PvP

How player-versus-player combat works on Skyblock, Lifesteal and Survival: combat tagging, logging out in combat, item cooldowns, safe zones, PvP toggle, kill statistics and leaderboards.

Available on Skyblock, Lifesteal and Survival.

PvP (player versus player) is available on Skyblock, Lifesteal and Survival. Prison has a PvP area (/warp pvp) but none of the combat tag, item cooldown and statistics features on this page; the hub has no PvP. Each gamemode has a dedicated PvP area reachable with /warp pvp (see Warps); on Lifesteal the whole world is a combat world with a safe spawn.

PvP areas per gamemode#

GamemodeWhere PvP happens
SkyblockThe PvP area at /warp pvp, the PvP mine and the Koth on spawn island
LifestealThe whole Lifesteal world outside the safe zone; spawn is a safe zone. Lifesteal rules (hearts) are explained on Combat
SurvivalThe PvP area at /warp pvp. Players there can switch PvP on or off with /pvp

Combat tag#

Hitting or being hit by a player puts you in combat for 30 seconds ("You have entered combat!"). While in combat:

  • Only /msg can be used; other commands are blocked ("You can't use this command while in combat!").
  • Elytra cannot be used.
  • You cannot use End portals, teleport into a safe zone, or teleport out of the warzone.

When the timer ends you see "You are no longer in combat!". On Lifesteal the timer is also removed when you get a kill, and falling into the void tags you.

Logging out in combat#

Quitting while in combat is combat logging.

GamemodeWhat happens
LifestealYour character stays behind as a combat logger NPC for 30 seconds. If another player kills it, the kill is announced ("<killer> killed <player>'s combat logger!"). If you rejoin first you "reclaim your combat logger"
Skyblock, SurvivalThe combat log is tracked, but no NPC is left behind

A mass disconnect, where many players leave within a few seconds, is not treated as combat logging.

Item cooldowns#

PvP areas limit combat items. Each cooldown shows "Your <item> cooldown is still active. Time remaining: ...".

Safe zones and the warzone#

Safe zones render as a visible barrier and PvP does not work inside. Leaving combat in the warzone teleports you to safety ("You have been teleported to safety."). The messages "You have entered the safe zone" and "You have left the safe zone" mark the border. Skyblock and Survival have extra safe zones at their outposts, see KOTH and Outposts.

PvP toggle (Survival)#

On Survival you can turn PvP off for yourself with /pvp (alias /pvptoggle). It switches PvP on or off with a 30 second cooldown. With PvP disabled:

  • You cannot hurt players and cannot be hurt by players; attackers see "<player> has PvP disabled, you cannot hurt them!".
  • You cannot pick up items from other players' deaths, throw splash or lingering potions at people, or use wind charges.
  • You cannot capture a KOTH or open an envoy ("You must enable PvP to claim envoys!").

PvP starts disabled by default on Survival. The PvP related alerts switch in the Options menu controls PvP chat alerts, see Settings and Options.

Statistics and leaderboards#

CommandEffect
/kills [player]Shows your or a player's kills
/deaths [player]Shows deaths
/pvpstats [player]Shows kills, deaths and kill/death ratio
/killhistory [player]Opens a Kill History menu of recent kills with the killer, the victim and when it happened (and where, on Skyblock and Survival)
/killtop [page]Lists the top killers with your own rank at the bottom
/killtop weekly [page]The weekly top killers

The top lists update every 10 seconds and show 10 players per page.

Loot lock (Lifesteal)#

On Lifesteal, items dropped by a player you killed are locked to you for 15 seconds so others cannot snatch them.
