Nicknames

A nickname replaces your account name in chat and name displays. Set one with /nick (a VIP perk), use letters, digits and underscores up to 16 characters, and clear it with /unnick.

A nickname is a display name you choose. Once set it is shown instead of your account name wherever your name is displayed, including chat (Chat Formatting). Your account name is unchanged and staff can still see it.

Nicknames are a VIP perk ("custom nickname", see VIP). A Nickname Voucher grants a number of uses of /nick when you right-click it.

Rules#

  • 1 to 16 characters, using only letters, digits and underscores.
  • Colour and style codes written with & work only for players who are allowed to use them; codes you may not use are dropped when the nickname is shown.
  • A nickname must be unique: "That nickname is already in use by another player!" and "That nickname is another player's account name!".
  • Nicknames pass the word filter: "That nickname is not allowed!".
  • Staff can block a player from nicknames if they are abused ("You are blacklisted from setting a nickname!").

Messages#

"Your nickname is now <name>", "Your nickname was cleared!", "Invalid nickname! Nicknames are 1-16 characters and may only contain letters, digits and underscores", "That nickname contains illegal characters!".
