Reporting Players

How to report a player for chat abuse with the in-game report menu, or for cheating, scams and other rule breaks with a website ticket.

There is no general /report command on Netherite. Reports go through two routes: an in-game menu for chat messages, and the website ticket system for everything else.

Reporting a chat message#

Use this for harassment, spam, profanity and similar chat problems.

  1. Type /chatreport <player> with the name of the player who sent the message. A menu opens listing that player's recent chat messages from roughly the last 15 minutes, newest first. If there are none you see "No available messages".
  2. Click the message you want to report. The menu shows how long ago it was sent.
  3. Choose a reason: Other, Profanity, Spam, Illegal Characters, Excessive Characters or Capslock.
  4. You see "Submitted report #ID for message ID. Our staff team has been notified of this report."

The command also works for Bedrock players, who cannot hover over chat messages. Some chat messages also carry a Click to report hover. Clicking it opens the same reason menu for that message.

Why a report can fail#

MessageMeaning
This message has already been reported.Someone, possibly you, already reported it.
You cannot report your own message.Reports are for other players.
Couldn't find a message with that id.The message is too old or does not exist.
You cannot report messages at this moment, you have been blacklisted from our report system.Staff removed your access to chat reports.

Staff are alerted in game when a report arrives. Reports are about messages, so name the exact message rather than the player in general.

Reporting anything else#

For cheating, hacked clients, griefing, scamming, exploiting or any rule break that is not a chat message, open a ticket on the website. The Tickets page is titled "Support tickets: Get help or report a player", and report categories let you list the players involved (up to 10 per field) and attach screenshots, clips and links as evidence. See Support Tickets.

Good evidence makes a report much easier to act on:

  • Names of everyone involved, spelled exactly.
  • The gamemode, the time and the coordinates if relevant.
  • A screenshot or video that shows the problem.

What happens next#

Staff review the report and decide whether to punish. You are not told the outcome of someone else's punishment. If you are the one being punished, see Punishments and Punishment Appeals.

Do not#

  • Do not file false or repeated reports. Abuse of the report system can get you blocked from it.
  • Do not argue with the other player in chat while you wait. Block them instead (Private Messaging).
