Punishment Appeals

How to appeal an active ban, mute or blacklist on the website, what to include, the limits and cooldowns that apply and what each appeal status means.

An appeal asks staff to review an active punishment. You submit it on the website while signed in, and staff reply with a decision there. Appeals are the official way to challenge a ban, mute or blacklist, so use the website.

Who can appeal#

  • You can appeal active bans, mutes and blacklists. Warnings and kicks cannot be appealed, and neither can punishments that have already ended.
  • Punishments issued on the Discord server show up too, with a "Discord" badge.
  • You need to be signed in to the website with the account that was punished. Website sign-in does not require you to be able to join the server, but you must have joined it at least once. See Signing In to the Website.

The ban and mute screens in game show the appeal address.

How to submit an appeal#

  1. Open the appeal page on the website and sign in.
  2. Your appealable punishments are listed with their type, reason and length. Click Submit appeal on the one you want to challenge.
  3. Write your explanation in the box (at least 20 characters, at most 2,000). Explain why the punishment should be removed.
  4. Add evidence if you have it:
    • Attachments: up to 5 files of up to 25 MB each. Allowed types are PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, MP4, WebM and plain text. Executable and script files are rejected.
    • Evidence links: up to 5 links from approved sites: YouTube, Imgur, Streamable, Medal, Gyazo and Discord's media links. Links from other sites are refused.
  5. Click Submit. You see "Appeal submitted".

Limits#

  • You can have one open appeal at a time. While one is open, the other punishments show "Another appeal pending".
  • After staff accept an appeal, you wait 7 days before appealing another punishment.
  • After staff reject an appeal for a punishment, you wait 7 days before appealing that same punishment again.
  • After you close an appeal yourself you wait 1 hour before submitting another.
  • You can upload up to 20 files per hour. If you hit the limit, wait and try again.

Tips#

  • Be specific about what happened. Say which punishment you are appealing and why it was a mistake or why it should be shorter.
  • Attach screenshots or a clip when you can. Clear evidence helps staff decide.
  • If you share a connection with someone who was punished, say so. See Punishments.
  • Do not submit repeated appeals for the same punishment. It does not speed things up and the cooldown applies.
  • For problems that are not punishments, open a ticket instead (Support Tickets).
