Preview a crate#
Left-click a crate (or use a lootbox key's left click) to open its preview. The preview has one tab per reward category and shows every reward with its chance. You can only preview about once per second ("You must wait ... before previewing another crate!"). Crates with milestones also show your open count and the next milestone.
Open a crate#
- Hold a key of that crate in your inventory.
- Right-click the crate block, or for "Anywhere" crates right-click any block with the key.
- One key is used and the opening animation plays. When it ends the rewards are delivered.

Things that stop an opening:
- You do not hold a key ("You don't have a key required to open this crate!").
- The crate is already being used by another player ("Someone is already opening this crate!") or you are already in an animation.
- You try to open a crate that needs its site away from the site ("Open this crate at its crate site.").
- The crate has expired.
If your inventory is full the rewards that do not fit go to your overflow backpack (Overflow Backpack).
Animations#
Each crate has an opening style:

The animation also plays a tick sound while rewards scroll. The opening is announced to the gamemode for crates that have an open broadcast, and rare rewards are announced when you win them.
Rerolls#
Some crates let you reroll your reward after it is picked. A window shows the reward with Keep Reward and Reroll.

If no other rewards are left you see "Reroll Unavailable"; after your last reroll you must claim what you get ("Claimed your final crate reward."). If a reroll cannot be processed you are not charged. See Gems.
Guaranteed rewards and milestones#
Some crates give extra rewards based on how many times you have opened them.

Milestone open counts are shared across all gamemodes: a collection crate opened on Survival counts on Skyblock too. Other crates count per gamemode. Check your counts with /crate opens.
