The Changelog

The Changelog lists every published server update with category, game mode, key changes, credited suggestions, views, likes, an unread counter, search filters and an RSS feed.

The Changelog is the public record of what changed on Netherite: new features, improvements, fixes, balance changes, events and documentation updates, each written up by the team with the changes that matter most highlighted. Entries also credit the players whose suggestions inspired them. Everyone can read it without signing in.

Open Community > Changelog in the navigation menu (the footer calls it What's new). The page is headed Server updates ("Features, fixes and balance changes, with credit to the players who suggested them."). Have an idea? at the top leads to Suggestions.

The updates list#

Updates are listed newest first under month headings, 12 at a time, with Load more updates at the bottom. Each card shows the title, a short summary, its category, the game modes it affects, the date, up to three key changes ("+2 more" when there are more), who suggested it, and its view and like counts. Click anywhere on a card to open the update.

New updates and the unread counter#

When you are signed in, entries you have not opened that were published in the last 45 days show a New badge. Updates published since your last visit that you have not opened add up to a count next to Changelog in the Community menu and next to Updates in the community bar at the top of the page (hover text such as "3 new updates since your last visit"; it shows 99+ from 99 upwards). The count starts only after your first visit, so a new account is not shown a backlog. Mark all as read clears both ("All caught up. Everything is marked as read."). The counter refreshes at most every five minutes.

Reading an update#

Click an entry to open it. The page has:

  • the title, category, game modes, date and reading time (click a game mode or tag to see all updates with it),
  • a Key changes list of up to five highlights,
  • the full write-up,
  • Suggested by players, crediting players whose suggestions led to the change, each linking to the suggestion (Suggestions on the Website). Credit uses the player's name or a label the team chose; suggestions credited anonymously are not shown,
  • Related suggestions,
  • Related updates and buttons to the Older update and Newer update,
  • Copy link (and Share on devices that support it) at the top.

If an update was withdrawn after you opened its link, the page says "That update is unavailable".

Views and likes#

  • The view count goes up once per browser session when you open an entry. It is shown as "1.2K views" style compact numbers.
  • The heart button likes the entry. Click it again to unlike. The count updates at once. Signed-out visitors see "Sign in to like updates" and players who have not yet chosen an edition see "Choose your edition to like updates" (Signing In to the Website).
  • Opening an entry while signed in also marks it as read.

Feeds#

Two feeds carry the newest 50 published entries:

FeedUse
RSSClick RSS at the top of the Changelog page and add the feed to your RSS reader
JSON FeedFor apps and bots that read JSON Feed; readers and browsers with feed discovery find it from the Changelog page

A new entry can take up to about 10 minutes to appear in the feeds.

In game and on Discord#

When an update is published it can also be announced in the community Discord and in game: players online in any mode see a short notice with its summary and key changes and a Click to read more link. When you join a server and updates were published since you last opened the changelog, a chat reminder says how many ("There are 3 new updates since you last looked") and opens the list when clicked; it appears at most once every 12 hours.

In game, players can read the same updates in every mode (full details on Changelog):

CommandDoes
/changelogOpens the updates menu (alias /updates)
/changelog <page>Lists updates in chat, five per page
/changelog search <keyword> [page]Searches updates
/changelog view <slug>Reads one update in chat (the rows in the chat list and the announcement link do this for you)
/changelog book <slug>Opens an update as a book (Bedrock players get the chat view)
/changelog markreadMarks everything read

Opening an update in game also marks it as read on the website.

Tips#

  • The game mode filter shows only updates tagged with that mode. Check Network-wide as well to see everything that applies to you.
  • Subscribe to the RSS feed instead of checking the page.
  • Press / anywhere on the Changelog page to start searching.
  • A bug you reported or an idea you posted can show up here: see Known Issues and Suggestions on the Website.
