Pirate Cove is a permanent PvE area on Skyblock. Pirates roam the cove; defeating them can drop a Treasure Map, which is bound to you and leads to one of the cove's buried treasures.
Pirate Cove exists only on Skyblock and is always open. There is no schedule and no start or end.
Getting there#
Open the Warps menu with /warps and click Pirate Cove (the filled map). The button runs /warp PirateCove, which you can also type yourself.
Area rules#
- Pirates are the only thing that can hurt you inside the cove. There is no PvP there.
- You cannot build, fly or drop items, and hunger is switched off.
- Falling into the void brings you back instead of killing you.
Pirates#
Up to 16 pirates are in the cove at once. New ones arrive in pairs every 5 seconds until the cove is full again, at 15 spawn points spread across the area.
| Pirate | Health | Share of spawns | Treasure Map chance per kill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deckhand | 40 (20 hearts) | 40% | 1% |
| Gunner | 50 (25 hearts) | 30% | 1.2% |
| Buccaneer | 65 (32.5 hearts) | 20% | 1.5% |
| First Mate | 85 (42.5 hearts) | 8% | 2% |
| Pirate Captain | 120 (60 hearts) | 2% | 3% |
- Pirates only attack players. The Gunner also fires projectiles.
- Pirates do not burn in daylight, and a pirate that leaves the cove is sent back to where it spawned.
- Pirates drop no normal loot and no experience. Their only drop is the Treasure Map.
- On average about 1 kill in 78 drops a map.
Treasure Maps#
Getting a map#
The map chance is rolled for the player who lands the killing blow. When it hits:
- Chat shows "A pirate dropped a Treasure Map!".
- The Treasure Map goes straight into your inventory. If your inventory is full it drops at your feet ("Your inventory was full, so the Treasure Map dropped at your feet."), and only you can pick it up.
- The map is already bound to you and to one of the cove's 12 dig sites. Chat shows "Treasure coordinates: X, Y, Z".
Following the trail#
- While you carry a bound map in the cove, a column of white light marks its dig site for you.
- While you hold the map, a green particle trail points you toward the area. It leads to the general area, not to the exact block.
- Within 12 blocks of the dig site the trail stops and your action bar shows "The trail is fading — the treasure is somewhere nearby." Use the coordinates from chat to find the exact spot.
Digging up the treasure#
Hold the map and right-click the block at the dig site. You must be within about 2 blocks of the exact spot.
| Result | Message |
|---|---|
| Correct spot | "Treasure found! Your Treasure Map crumbles away." The map is used up and you receive one random reward |
| Wrong spot in the cove | "The treasure is not buried here. Keep following the trail." |
| Outside Pirate Cove | "This treasure is buried inside Pirate Cove." |
| Map belongs to someone else | "This Treasure Map is assigned to another player." |
| Map expired or already used | "This Treasure Map is no longer valid." The map is removed |
Map rules#
- Bound: only the player who earned a map can use it or pick it up.
- No trading: maps cannot be dropped, put in chests or other containers, traded, gifted, sold, auctioned, or used in crafting, anvils, grindstones or smithing tables. The only way to get rid of one is a disposal (trash) menu.
- One per slot: maps do not stack.
- Expiry: a map is valid for 7 days after it drops. After that it is removed with "This Treasure Map is no longer valid."
- Lost maps: if a bound map goes missing from your inventory while it is still valid, it is given back the next time you join.

Each treasure gives one reward, picked at random when you dig it up.

Tips#
- Every pirate type can drop a map, but the rarer ones are more likely to: a Pirate Captain is three times as likely as a Deckhand.
- Only the killing blow counts. When fighting next to other players, finish your own targets.
- Read the coordinates in chat as soon as the map drops; the trail only gets you close.
