Chat on Netherite is a set of channels you talk in: a public channel for everyone on the gamemode you are playing, optional team channels for your island, gang, clan or town, and private conversations with single players. Every message passes through a filter, carries your rank and name colour, and can be reported or ignored.
Where chat applies#
Chat is available on the hub and on every gamemode (Skyblock, Prison, Lifesteal, Survival). The public channel is shared by all servers of the same gamemode, so a message sent on one Skyblock server is read by everyone playing Skyblock. The hub has its own public channel. Chat is switched off in the short mode lobbies you wait in during a restart.

Tips#
- Click a player's name in chat to start a private message to them.
- Click the text of a chat message to prepare a report for it. You still have to press Enter to send the command.
- The Options menu has switches for private messages and public chat.
