An offer on a listing (the site and game call it a counter offer) lets you propose a lower price than the seller is asking. Your gems are put aside while the seller decides. If the seller accepts, the sale goes through at your price; if the seller declines, or you cancel, your gems come back.
For a cosmetic that nobody has listed, use a direct offer instead. To pay the full asking price, use Buy Now (Buying on the Marketplace).
Make an offer#
- Open the cosmetic's page and find the listing you want (Browsing the Marketplace).
- Click Make Offer on that listing. The button only appears when you are signed in and not under an active ban or blacklist.
- In Make Counter Offer for <cosmetic> your balance and the balance after the offer are shown. Type Your Offer in whole gems. It must be below the listing's price; the box rejects anything at or above it ("Offer must be lower than the current price of ...").
- Click Offer <amount>. The site says "Counter offer created successfully!"
The amount you offer is taken from your balance immediately and held until the offer is resolved. If your balance is too low the dialog warns "You don't have enough balance to make this offer" and the button stays disabled.
Rules:
- You can have one pending offer per listing. Offering again on the same listing replaces your earlier offer: the difference between the old and new amount is held or returned.
- You cannot offer on your own listing.
- There is a 3-second pause, shared with creating listings and changing listing prices.
- If the seller has an active ban or blacklist, the offer is refused.
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| This listing doesn't exist | It was sold, removed or expired. |
| You don't have enough money | Your balance cannot cover the offer. |
| You can't make an offer on your own listing | The listing is yours. |
| The price is invalid | Not a valid amount. |
| Please wait a moment before making another offer | Pause for a few seconds. |
What the seller sees and does#
On the seller's My Listings page, View Offers (N) opens Offers for <cosmetic>. Each pending offer shows the buyer, how long ago it was made and the amount, with a note of what the seller would receive after the 1% sale fee (Selling on the Marketplace). The seller chooses:
- Accept: the sale happens at the offered price. The cosmetic moves to you, your held gems pay the seller (minus the sale fee) and the listing closes. The site says "Offer response submitted successfully!". An offer from a player who is now banned or blacklisted cannot be accepted ("Failed to respond to offer").
- Decline: your offer is removed and your held gems return to your balance automatically.
Offers are also listed under the cosmetic's listing as Counter Offers (N) on its page, each with its price, how long ago it was made and a status.
Check Outgoing Offers or your gem balance to see whether a seller has answered.
Your outgoing offers#
Open Offers & Orders > Outgoing Offers (titled My Offers). It reads "You have N active offers." Each card shows the cosmetic, the seller, when you made the offer, Your offer and a status.
| Status | Meaning | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting for the seller; shows a countdown such as "31h 20m left" | Cancel to remove it and get your gems back |
| Accepted | The seller accepted and you bought the cosmetic | Nothing; it is in your collection |
When a seller declines, the offer leaves the list and your gems return to your balance. Cancelling shows "Offer removed successfully" and your balance updates. While your account has an active ban or blacklist you cannot cancel, so the gems stay held until it ends.
If the listing is sold to someone else, removed or expires, check Outgoing Offers and Cancel any offer on it that still shows Pending to get your gems back.
Tips#
- Offer a little under the listing price and wait: sellers see the offer under View Offers on their listings page and on the cosmetic's page.
- Gems in a pending offer cannot be spent elsewhere. Keep an eye on Outgoing Offers so you do not tie up more than you need.
- If you would rather name a price for something that is not for sale, see Direct Offers on Unlisted Cosmetics.
