A key is an item with the crate's name on it, for example "Vote Crate". Keys are physical items, not account balances: they sit in your inventory, you can drop or trade them, and they are used up when you open the crate. Keep them in your normal inventory slots (not in the offhand or armor slots) when you open.
Using keys#
- Right-click a crate with a key to open it once. Sneak and right-click to open as many keys as you hold, up to 64 in one go. See Opening Crates.
- Some crates open anywhere: right-click a block while holding the key.
- A key only works for its own crate, and some crates have a limited lifetime. When a crate is no longer available you keep your keys and can still preview the crate, but you cannot open it ("This crate is no longer available.").
- If a crate site holds several crates, hold the key of the crate you want ("Hold the key for the crate you want to open!").

Keys for seasonal collections have been offered in the store while each collection runs. The store also sells key bundles that include bonus keys.
