Punishment Appeals on the Website

Appeal an active ban, mute or blacklist from the Punishment appeals page, with the reason and evidence rules, appeal statuses, staff information requests, cooldowns and what an accepted appeal does.

A punishment appeal is a request for staff to review a ban, mute or blacklist you believe was a mistake or should now end. You submit it on the website, staff review it, and you see the decision on the same page. The rules for what is punishable are in Server Rules and Punishments; the general appeal process is in Punishment Appeals.

Open Support > Appeals, titled Punishment appeals ("Request a punishment review."). You must be signed in (Signing In to the Website); a signed-out visitor sees a Sign in required panel.

What can be appealed#

Only active bans, mutes and blacklists can be appealed. Warnings and kicks cannot, and neither can punishments that have already ended or were pardoned. For punishments that apply only on Discord, only bans and mutes can be appealed. The Active punishments section lists the punishments you can appeal, each with its type, its full length (such as 7d or Permanent), the reason and an Active badge. Discord-only punishments are tagged Discord and punishments on both platforms Discord + Minecraft. If nothing qualifies the page says "No active appealable punishments. There is nothing appealable on this account."

Submit an appeal#

  1. On the punishment you want to appeal, click Submit appeal. If you already have an open appeal on another punishment the button says Another appeal pending and is unavailable.
  2. In Submit appeal explain why the punishment should be removed. The box says "Explain why this punishment should be removed". The reason must be 20 to 2,000 characters.
  3. Under Evidence files (optional) add screenshots, clips or logs. Under Evidence links (optional) add links from approved sites.
  4. Click Submit. The site says "Appeal submitted".

Evidence rules#

Your appeals#

Below the punishments, Your appeals lists your recent submissions and staff responses ("No appeals submitted yet." until you send one). Staff names are not shown. Each appeal has a status:

StatusMeaningWhat you can do
PENDINGWaiting for staffEdit appeal to change the reason, or Close appeal
AWAITING YOUR RESPONSEStaff asked for more informationRespond with 10 to 1,000 characters plus optional evidence and click Submit response; the appeal returns to PENDING. You can also edit or close it
ACCEPTEDStaff accepted itNothing; the punishment is lifted if it was still active
REJECTEDStaff declined itWait out the cooldown to try the same punishment again
WITHDRAWNYou closed itNothing; the appeal shows when it was closed

Information requests from staff appear as "Staff requested information" and your answers as "Your response". The staff decision message appears under Staff response. While the page is open it tells you when something changes: "Your appeal was accepted.", "Your appeal was rejected." or "Staff requested additional information on your appeal." You also get an Account notification when staff ask for information, accept or reject your appeal, or when you close it (Website Notifications).

What an accepted appeal does#

When staff accept an appeal the punishment is pardoned straight away if it is still active. It then shows as Pardoned with the pardon reason "Appeal Accepted" in the punishment history on your profile (Punishment History Page), which lists game punishments only; the original entry is not erased. If the punishment had already ended, the appeal is accepted without any change to it.

Editing and closing an appeal#

Edit appeal changes the reason of an open appeal (20 to 2,000 characters, Save, "Appeal updated"). Close appeal ends your current appeal ("Appeal closed"). The site warns: "Edit it instead if you only need to change the reason. Submitting another appeal after closing may be delayed."

Cooldowns#

AfterYou must wait before the next appeal
An appeal was accepted7 days, for any punishment
An appeal was rejected7 days, for that same punishment
You closed an appeal1 hour, for any punishment

Cooldowns count from the moment of the decision or the close. The site shows the remaining time when you try too early. Only one appeal can be open at once, whatever the punishment.

Tips#

  • Be specific: what happened, why the punishment was wrong or why it should end, and what evidence you can show.
  • Answer information requests quickly; the appeal stays on hold until you do.
  • Appeals are separate from support tickets. Use Support Tickets on the Website for anything that is not a punishment review.
