Account Settings is the single page where you manage everything attached to your Netherite account: your linked Discord account, your custom rank prefix, notification channels, marketing email and your private-message privacy. Open it from the avatar menu in the top bar (Settings) or from Notification settings at the bottom of the notification bell.
You must be signed in. A signed-out visitor sees a "Sign in required" panel instead of the cards; see Signing In to the Website. If you have not yet chosen between your Java and Bedrock identities, finish that step first.
The page is a column of cards. Each card can be opened straight from the site search (Site Search and Player Search), for example Privacy & blocked players or Link Discord: the page scrolls to that card and highlights it.
Discord#
The Discord card connects your Minecraft account to your Discord account. Linking unlocks Discord direct-message notifications and the linked-role sync on the Discord server. See Linking Your Discord Account for the in-game and Discord side.
If your account is not linked#
You get two ways to link:
- Link with Discord: click the button, approve the Discord consent screen (only your public Discord identity is requested) and you are sent back to Settings with a "Discord account linked" message.
- Link with bot code: click Generate to get a short code, then run
/linkwith that code in the Netherite Discord server. Copy copies the code and Refresh replaces it with a new one. A code is 6 characters long and stays valid for 5 minutes.
Messages you may see after returning from Discord:
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Discord account linked | The link worked. |
| That Discord account is already linked | This Discord account belongs to another Minecraft account. |
| Sign in again before linking Discord | Your website session was not valid; sign in and retry. |
| Discord link request expired | You took too long on the Discord screen; start again. |
| Discord linking is not configured | The one-click link is unavailable; use the bot code instead. |
| Discord link failed | Any other failure; try again or use the bot code. |
If your account is linked#
The card shows the linked Discord account and three controls:
- Show Discord handle on profile (off by default): when on, your Discord username appears on your public player profile. See Player Profiles.
- Unlink: after you confirm "Unlink Discord account?", Discord direct messages stop and your Discord handle disappears from your profile. You can link again any time.
- Discord button: opens the Netherite Discord server.
While you are signed in and not linked, a persistent "Link your Discord account now" toast appears in the corner with a Link button. Dismiss hides it for the rest of that browser session.
Custom rank prefix#
The Custom rank prefix card lets you design the prefix shown before your name in chat, on the tab list and on your nametag.
Who can use it#
Designing a prefix is a perk of the Custom rank (see Donor Ranks). Without it the card shows "Locked" and a View the Custom rank button that opens the store. If your account has been blocked from prefix changes, the card says so and offers Open a ticket (Support Tickets on the Website).
Editing a prefix#
- Type your prefix in New prefix. The editor uses MiniMessage-style tags such as
<gradient:#ff5555:#ffaa00>[Nova]</gradient>. - Select part of the text and use the toolbar to wrap it: Colour (colour picker), Gradient (two colour pickers), Rainbow, and bold, italic, underline, strikethrough and obfuscated (scrambled text). Every quick-insert adds a closed tag pair.
- Use the symbol picker to insert approved symbols (stars, hearts, arrows, card suits and similar). Only symbols in the approved list are accepted.
- Choose a Name colour. Default (white) is the standard, or pick a colour or type a hex code such as
#55ffff. The editor writes the name colour as the last tag of your prefix for you, so you never type it. It counts toward the formatting budget. - Check the Preview: it renders your prefix as it will look in Chat, on the Tab list and on a Nametag.
- Read Will be saved as to see the cleaned-up form that will be stored. If a gradient would be shorter than your per-letter colours, a Convert to gradient suggestion appears with a Convert button.
- Click Apply prefix, check the cost in the Change your prefix? dialog and click Confirm.
A successful change is visible in chat at once, on the tab list within about 30 seconds and on nametags within about 5 seconds. The space between the prefix and your name is added for you.
Limits#
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Visible characters | 1 to 24 |
| Raw characters, tags included | 180 |
| Formatting tags | up to 8, nested at most 2 deep, at most one gradient or rainbow |
| Whitespace | no spaces at the start or end, no double spaces |
| Allowed plain characters | letters, digits, space and these symbols: [ ] ( ) . _ ' ! ? * + & - and the vertical bar |
| Formatting allowed | colours, gradient, rainbow, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, obfuscated |
| Not allowed | legacy & or section-sign colour codes, links, staff or rank names, words rejected by the filter |
The two Meters under the editor show your visible and raw character use. A gradient costs far less raw budget than colouring each letter. Obfuscated text must be closed before the end of the prefix, otherwise it would scramble your name as well.
What a change costs#
The cost is decided in this order every time:
- If you hold a name-change credit, the change uses 1 credit. Credits come from the store product Custom Rank Prefix Change.
- Otherwise, if your free change is available, it is free. One free change is available every 7 days.
- Otherwise it costs 500 gems.
The card shows the next change cost, your credit count and when the next free change unlocks. If you do not have enough gems the dialog offers Get more, which opens the gem store (The Website Store).
Results you can see#
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Prefix updated | Applied. |
| You don't have enough for this change | Top up gems or buy a credit. |
| The price changed since you opened this | The cost moved while the dialog was open; check it and confirm again. |
| Another prefix change is still being processed | Wait a moment and confirm again; nothing was charged. |
| That change was already submitted | A repeated click; nothing was charged twice. |
| That's already your prefix | No change, no charge. |
| Your prefix couldn't be applied | Any charge was refunded and a used free change was restored. Try again later. |
| Your account doesn't have the rank needed | You no longer hold the Custom rank. |
| Prefix changes are currently turned off | The feature was switched off. |
Notifications#
The Notifications card has three switches for marketplace alerts such as watchlist price matches and offers on your cosmetics:
| Switch | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Marketplace web notifications | Keeps alerts in your website notification bell. |
| Marketplace in-game notifications | Sends alerts to chat while you are online. |
| Marketplace Discord notifications | Sends alerts as Discord direct messages. Disabled until Discord is linked. |
All three are on by default, but Discord delivery only works once your account is linked. See Website Notifications for the bell, every notification type and the email channel.
Marketing emails#
The Marketing emails card manages a single opt-in list for Netherite news, updates and offers. The card describes subscribing as the way to claim your free in-game rank, and "Subscribe to marketing emails" is one step of the free rank claim checklist in the store (The Website Store).
- Type an email address, or click Use my Microsoft email to read it from your Microsoft account. The address is placed in the box so you can review it.
- Click Subscribe. The card then shows Subscribed with the address.
- To stop, click Unsubscribe on the card. Every marketing email also carries an unsubscribe link, which opens an Unsubscribe page without needing you to sign in: click Unsubscribe to confirm and you see "You're unsubscribed". An old or broken link says "This unsubscribe link is invalid or has expired." You can subscribe again from the card whenever you like.
When you sign in with Microsoft, the site may read the email address of that Microsoft account (an in-game code sign-in cannot). Where you are depends on what happens next:
- Outside the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: the captured address is subscribed automatically. You can unsubscribe from the card at any time.
- Inside those regions, or if your region cannot be detected: a Stay in the loop? dialog asks first. Yes, keep me posted subscribes you, No thanks records your refusal and the dialog never returns.
Players who sign in with an in-game code have no captured address, so the card is the only way to subscribe.
Privacy#
The Privacy card controls private messaging (Friends and Messages on the Website):
- Allow private messages: when off, other players cannot send you private messages in game or on the website.
- Blocked players: type a username (up to 16 characters) and click Block. Blocked players cannot message you and you will not see their messages. Each entry has an Unblock button and shows when you blocked the player.
