Showcase placeholders let you share things from your game in a chat message. Type a placeholder anywhere in your message and the game replaces it with a clickable element that everyone in the channel can use.
Placeholders#

Placeholders work inside a longer sentence, for example Selling my [item] for $50,000. You can combine different placeholders in one message, but only the first use of each placeholder is replaced; a second [item] stays as plain text.
Details#
Item#
- The item shown is whatever is in your main hand when you send the message.
- If your hand is empty the message shows
[Air], which opens an empty view. - The view window is titled with the owner's name and how long ago the item was shared, and shows the item with its enchantments, lore and custom name.
- On Prison the brackets around the item name are grey; on the other gamemodes they are white.
Inventory and ender chest#
- The view is a snapshot taken when the message is sent. It does not change if you move items afterwards.
- The inventory view also shows your health, food level and active potion effects with their remaining time.
- Viewers can look but cannot take anything.
Snapshot lifetime#
Item, inventory and ender chest snapshots last 30 minutes. After that, clicking shows "That item snapshot has already expired" (or the inventory or ender chest equivalent).
Auctions#
[ah] is not a snapshot. Clicking it opens the poster's live auction listings, so it always shows what they are selling right now. The hub has no auction house, so [ah] is only useful inside a gamemode. See Auction House.
Teleport button#
[tp] gives other players a one-click way to send you a teleport request. You still choose whether to accept. See Teleporting.
Who can use them#
Showcase placeholders are rank perks. On Skyblock the [item] placeholder is listed as a perk from the Iron rank upward. See Donor Ranks for what each rank on each gamemode unlocks. If you do not have access to a placeholder it is sent as ordinary text.
Tips#
- Shared items are filtered like any other chat content, so a renamed item with a blocked word is still blocked.
[ec]and[inv]are a good way to prove what you have before a trade. For safe trading use the trade menu, see Trading.
