Joining on Java Edition

Joining on Java Edition

Step-by-step guide to adding Netherite to the Multiplayer list on Minecraft Java Edition for PC and Mac.

This guide adds Netherite to the server list in Minecraft Java Edition on PC or Mac. You need Java Edition 1.21.4 or newer and a legitimate Minecraft account.

Steps#

  1. Open Minecraft and click Multiplayer. Launch Java Edition and choose Multiplayer on the main menu.
  2. Click Add Server. The button is at the bottom of the multiplayer screen.
  3. Enter the server details. Type a name such as Netherite in Server Name, then enter connect.netherite.gg in Server Address. Leave Server Resource Packs on Prompt or set it to Enabled (see below). Click Done.
  4. Select the server and join. The server appears in your list. Click it, then click Join Server.

You arrive in the hub. From there, open the Server Selector to pick a mode (Getting Started in the Hub).

Resource pack setting#

The Java client lets you choose how a server's resource pack is handled when you edit the server entry.

SettingEffect
PromptYou are asked whether to accept the pack. Accept it.
EnabledThe pack downloads automatically.
DisabledThe pack is declined without asking. Custom items and menus look vanilla and the network reminds you in chat.

See Server Resource Pack for the full behaviour.

Version requirement#

Netherite refuses Java clients older than 1.21.4 at login with "Your client is outdated. We only support 1.21.4+". If you see that screen, update your game or pick a newer launcher profile. See Connection Troubleshooting.

Java clients show a Server Links screen in the pause menu. On Netherite it lists the vote page, the store, the website, YouTube and Discord, plus a bug-report link that opens the ticket system (Support Tickets).
