Signing in ties the Netherite website to your Minecraft account so you can use the marketplace, store, tickets, messages and every other feature that needs to know who you are. Public pages such as leaderboards, the changelog and player profiles work without signing in.
You can sign in two ways: with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft, or with a short code you generate in game. Both end in the same place, a session tied to your Minecraft profile.
Sign in with Microsoft#
- Click Sign in in the top bar (on a phone, Sign in with Microsoft at the bottom of the menu), or the Sign in button on any "Sign in required" panel.
- On the Sign in card click Sign in with Microsoft and pick the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft.
- The site checks your Xbox Live identity and Minecraft ownership, then returns you to the page you came from.
The site only uses Microsoft to verify your Xbox Live identity and Minecraft ownership. It never receives your Microsoft password and never gets access to your Microsoft account. If the sign-in also reads the email address of the Microsoft account, see the marketing-email section of Account Settings.
Choosing an edition#
If your Microsoft account owns both Java and Bedrock Edition and both identities have joined the server, you land on Choose an edition with two cards, Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, each showing the player name that edition uses on Netherite. Click Select on the one you want to use on the website. The site reloads and signs you in as that identity.
If only one of your editions has ever joined, it is selected automatically and you are never asked. Your Java and Bedrock identities are separate Netherite accounts: balances, cosmetics and profiles are not shared between them.
Sign-in errors#

Sign in with an in-game code#
This method needs no Microsoft login: the code proves you are the player who ran the command, so you sign in as exactly the profile you are playing on.
- Join any Netherite server and run
/web login. - The game prints your login code and a clickable link: "Logged in successfully. Your log in code is ...". The code has 8 digits shown as two groups of four.
- Click the link in chat, or open the Sign in page and type the 8 digits into the code boxes. The page signs you in as soon as the eighth digit is entered, so there is no submit button.
- A "Signed in as ..." message confirms it and you are sent back to the page you came from.
A code is valid for 5 minutes and works once. If it is wrong, used or old you see "The code is invalid or expired"; run /web login again for a new one. Running it again replaces your previous code.
Staying signed in and signing out#
A website session lasts 7 days. After that, sign in again.
- Log out of one browser: open the avatar menu in the top bar and click Logout. The site forgets everything it had cached about you in that browser.
- End every web session: run
/web logoutin game. All your website sessions are revoked at once and your pending login code is cleared. The game replies "All web login sessions have been cleared." Use this if you signed in on a shared computer and forgot to log out.
The avatar menu also shows your name, your gem balance and shortcuts to Profile, Conversations, My Orders (My Orders) and Settings (Account Settings).
What signed-out visitors see#
Pages that need an account show a "Sign in required" panel with a Sign in button and a link to the Guides pages. The button returns you to the page you were on after you sign in. Signing in never grants anything on its own: a feature may still refuse you because of a trade ban, an account restriction or a missing rank, which each page explains.
