Discord linking connects your Minecraft profile to your Discord account. Once linked, the Netherite Discord server gives you roles that match your in-game ranks. You can link from the game or from the website, and you can unlink at any time.
What linking gives you#
- Discord roles that follow your ranks. A linked member gets a "linked" role plus a role for each of your ranks that has a matching Discord role. Roles are updated when you join the game and again on a regular schedule.
- Bot features that need your profile, such as Discord direct messages for marketplace alerts if you turn them on (Account Settings).
- Optional public handle. You can choose to show your Discord name on your website profile. It is hidden by default.
- Boost status. The game can tell whether you are boosting the Discord server (Discord Boosting).
No link reward is currently handed out for linking.
Link from the game#
- Type
/link(alias/sync). The game prints a code of 6 characters that is valid for 5 minutes. If your account is already linked, you see "Your Minecraft account is already linked to Discord." - Open Discord and send the code to the Netherite bot. Use the bot's
/linkcommand and put the code in thecodefield. The message in game tells you to send it as a direct message to the bot, so nobody else sees your code. - The bot replies "Successfully linked your Discord account to your Minecraft account!" and the game shows "Success! Linked to Discord account: Name".
If you paste /link CODE as an ordinary chat message instead of using the command, the bot also accepts it and deletes your message when it can.
| Bot reply | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Your link code is invalid! | The code was mistyped or never created. Run /link in game again. |
| Your link code has expired! Run /link in-game again for a fresh one. | More than 5 minutes passed. |
| This Minecraft account is already linked to a Discord account! | Unlink first, then link again. |
Link from the website#
Sign in to the website (Signing In to the Website), open Account settings, and find the Discord card.
- Link with Discord connects through Discord's own sign-in. The site only asks Discord for your user ID, name and avatar.
- If Discord sign-in is unavailable, Generate a code on the same card and use it with the bot's
/linkcommand. - Once linked the card shows your Discord name, a switch for Show Discord handle on profile, and an Unlink button.
The in-game Discord menu#
/discordmenu opens a small three-slot menu:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Unlink your Discord | Unlinks your account and closes the menu. |
| Information | Explains Discord boosting. |
| Statistics | Shows your Discord ID, Discord name, the date you linked and whether you are boosting. |
Unlinking#
Any of these unlinks your account:
/unlink(alias/unsync) in game. If you are not linked you see "You are not linked to a Discord account."- The Unlink your Discord button in
/discordmenu. - The bot's
/unlinkcommand on Discord. - The Unlink button on the website.
Unlinking removes your linked role and rank roles from Discord and removes your Discord handle from your public profile. Marketplace Discord messages stop.
Reminders to link#
Players who have not linked get a chat reminder every 5 minutes with the Discord invite and the /link instruction. It carries a clickable invite and a clickable /link. The reminders stop once you link, and you can switch them off in your settings (Settings and Options).
Other Discord commands in game#
/discord prints the Discord invite link in chat. It is available in the hub and in every gamemode.
