Chat games are quick contests played by typing in public chat. Every few minutes a typing game asks everyone to solve a word or number puzzle, and the first correct answer wins a prize. Chat waves pay money to everyone who types the right word in time, and staff can run chat giveaways that you join with a command. Each gamemode runs its own games: a game on Skyblock is shared by every Skyblock server but is separate from the one on Prison.
Typing games#
How they run#
- A new typing game starts every 5 minutes on Skyblock, Prison, Lifesteal and Survival.
- Each game lasts 1 minute. The first player to type the correct answer in public chat wins, and the game ends at once.
- If nobody gets it in time, the answer is revealed, for example "Nobody guessed it! The number was 17.".
- Staff can also start a game by hand.
How to answer#
- Type your answer as a normal message in public chat. Messages in island, gang, clan, ally or town chat do not count, so switch back to public chat first (Chat Channels).
- The message must be only the answer. Capital letters do not matter, and spaces before or after are ignored, but spaces inside the answer count:
happy ghastis right, happyghastis not. - You can guess as often as you like. While a game is running, and for 10 seconds after it ends, quick repeated guesses are not blocked or muted as spam (Chat Filter).
The five games#
| Game | What chat shows | What you type |
|---|---|---|
| Guess the number | "Pick a number between 10 and 30!" | The secret whole number between 10 and 30 |
| Repeat | "Type Echo Shard in chat!" | The text exactly as shown |
| Reverse | "Reverse this word: drahS ohcE" | The text written the right way round |
| Unscramble | "Unscramble this: hdEcSa ohr" | The text with its letters back in order; spaces are shuffled too |
| Fill in the blanks | "Fill in the blanks!" and "E_ho _h_rd" | The full text; about a third of the characters, spaces included, are replaced by _ |
The words and phrases are Minecraft names: blocks, items, mobs, structures and biomes such as Happy Ghast, Trial Spawner, Echo Shard, Pillager Outpost or Soul Sand Valley.
When someone wins, chat announces it in the game's own words, for example "Steve unscrambled Echo Shard and claimed the prize!" or "Steve was the fastest to type Echo Shard!".
Rewards#
The winner gets one reward, drawn at random from the list of the gamemode the game ran on. You must still be online when the result is announced to receive it.

Chat waves#
A chat wave is a short window in which everyone who types the wave's word in public chat gets a reward. Waves start on their own:
| Wave | Starts when | Lasts | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| GG wave | A store purchase is delivered to a player on that gamemode | 10 seconds | gg |
| Welcome wave | A new player joins that gamemode for the first time | 20 seconds | Welcome |
Chat shows "A chat wave has started! Type GG in chat for a reward!" or "Type Welcome in chat for a reward!". Rewards per gamemode:
| Gamemode | GG wave | Welcome wave |
|---|---|---|
| Skyblock | $10,000 | $2,000 |
| Prison | $1,000 | $100 |
| Lifesteal | $1,000 | $100 |
| Survival | $1,000 | $500 |
- Your message must be just the word (any capitals) and sent in public chat.
- Each player is paid once per wave; typing the word again does nothing.
- Only one wave runs at a time on a gamemode. If another purchase or new player arrives during a wave, no second wave starts.
Chat giveaways#
Chat giveaways are run by staff, who start them for a set time. They can happen on any gamemode and on the hub, and are separate from the Gems giveaways players start themselves (Giveaways).
- Chat announces "A giveaway has started! Type /joingiveaway to enter."
- Type
/joingiveawayto enter. Each entry is announced, for example "Steve has joined the giveaway!". You can only join once ("You have already joined the giveaway"). - When time runs out, one winner is drawn from everyone who joined and announced as ✯ GIVEAWAY ✯ "Steve won the giveaway!". If nobody won, chat says "No one has won the giveaway."
The giveaway itself only picks the winner; it does not pay a prize automatically. Using /joingiveaway when none is running shows "There is no giveaway in progress".
