Crates give a random reward in exchange for a key. Lifesteal has four permanent crates: the Vote Crate, the KOTH Crate, the Mythic Crate and the Ability Pouch. Seasonal and event crates also appear at the Crates warp for a limited time; they are not listed here. For how crates and keys work on every mode, see Crates and Crate Keys.
Using crates#
Open the Warps menu and click CRATES ("Open your keys for powerful rewards. Find seasonal, vote, and event crates.") to teleport to the crates.
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Preview the rewards | Left-click the crate. |
| Open one key | Hold the key and right-click the crate. |
| Open several keys at once | Sneak and right-click the crate. This opens every key you hold, up to 64. |
| Open without visiting the crate | Possible for the Mythic Crate and the Ability Pouch: hold the key and right-click any block (sneak to open up to 64), or run /crate openall <crate> to open up to 64 keys at once. |
The Vote and KOTH keys say "Open at /warp crates", so they have to be used on the crate itself. Each opening plays an animation and cannot be started while another crate animation is playing on your screen. Opening a KOTH Crate or a Mythic Crate is announced to the whole server, together with the reward.
Key sources#
| Crate | Where the key comes from |
|---|---|
| Vote Crate | One key for every vote you claim, plus a second key if your rank gives double vote rewards. Quest lines pay 1 key at tier 4 and 3 keys at tier 5. Monthly vote milestones pay 3 keys at 5 votes. When a vote party starts, every online player who voted in the last 24 hours gets a key. See Voting and Quests. |
| KOTH Crate | The winner of every KOTH event receives one key, and so does the player who makes the final capture in the Siege event. See KOTH and Siege. |
| Mythic Crate | Monthly vote milestones: 2 keys at 50 votes and 3 keys at 110 votes. In the Admin Abuse event, each cash pouch dropped by an Administrator-tier mob has a 5% chance to come with a key (Admin Abuse), and the Admin Shard shop sells a key for 50 Admin Shards (Admin Shard). The key is also sold on the store (Store and Rank Perks). |
| Ability Pouch | Bought from the shop for $500,000 (Misc category). The Mythic Crate can also give 8 at once. See Shop and Selling. |
Vote Crate#
The everyday crate. Each key gives one reward from a large pool of Vote gear, Hearts, golden apples, money, scrolls, runes, XP pouches and more.
About one opening in nine gives Hearts (1, 2, 3 or 5 of them), and about one in seven gives Money ($12,000, $20,000 or $30,000).

The Mythic armor pieces and the Mythic Sword are the rare top prizes (under 1% each); XP pouches, an XP bottle, money pouches, enchant runes, golden scrolls, sell wands, spawner wrenches, Ability Pouches, enchanted golden apples and the Mythic Spear make up the rest.
