Lifesteal Brewing Enchants

The six Brewing enchants of Lifesteal for potions, crops, bees and experience, with their rarity, levels and exact numbers per level.

The Lifesteal Brewing enchants are six utility enchants for worn armor: potion effects that last longer, extra potions from brewing stands, faster crops, protection from bees, bonus experience and armor repair from experience. All of them come from runes, which the enchant shop sells.

How brewing enchants work#

  • The enchant must be on a piece you are wearing. Armor in your inventory does nothing.
  • Each enchant has its own target: Alchemist, Apothecary, Beekeeper and Botanist work only on chestplates, Scholar only on helmets, and Mender on any armor piece.
  • If several worn pieces carry the same enchant, the highest level is used and the copies do not add up.
  • Rune prices: Common 5,000 XP, Uncommon 10,000 XP, Rare 20,000 XP. A rune gives a random enchant of its rarity; see Runes.
  • Lifesteal also has an Extraction Scroll, which can pull an enchant off a piece into a book. See Extraction Scroll.

Enchants without their own page#

Alchemist#

Alchemist is a Rare enchant for chestplates. Each time you break a brewing stand, it has a chance to drop one extra potion item next to it. The chance is 10% at level I and rises by 5% per level, to 30% at level V. The extra item is a plain potion, splash potion or lingering potion, picked at random, with no effects.

Apothecary#

Apothecary is an Uncommon enchant for chestplates. When you drink a potion, the effects it gives you last 20% longer per level, so a potion lasts twice as long at level V. For example, a 3-minute potion lasts 3 minutes 36 seconds at level I and 6 minutes at level V. It applies to potions you drink; splash and lingering potions are not affected, and instant effects have no duration to extend. The in-game description shows the total bonus for the book's level as a plain number followed by "per level"; the real bonus is the 20% per level above, so +100% at level V.

Beekeeper#

Beekeeper is a Common enchant for chestplates with a single level. While you wear it, bees will not target you.

Botanist#

Botanist is a Common enchant for chestplates. Every 2 seconds, each growing crop around you has a 5% chance to advance by one growth stage, which is one stage roughly every 40 seconds per crop. The level does not change that chance; it widens the area.

LevelReach from youArea on the groundHeight

II6 blocks13 by 13 blocks3 blocks above and below you
III7 blocks15 by 15 blocks3 blocks above and below you
IV8 blocks17 by 17 blocks3 blocks above and below you
V9 blocks19 by 19 blocks3 blocks above and below you

It affects wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroots and melon and pumpkin stems.

Scholar#

Scholar is a Common enchant for helmets. Whenever you pick up an experience orb, the experience it gives is increased by 5% per level, so +25% at level V. The result is rounded down to a whole number, so a very small orb may not change at all. Because runes in the enchant shop cost XP, Scholar helps you save up for runes faster.

  • It works only on experience orbs. Experience that is added straight to your bar, such as the XP you collect from a spawner's storage, gets no bonus, although the in-game description says "from all sources".
  • If you wear or hold damaged items with vanilla Mending, Mending uses an orb's experience first, and Scholar only boosts what is left.
