Auction House

Sell items to other Lifesteal players at a fixed price or in a timed auction with /ah, using Money or Gems, with the fee, limits and claim menus explained.

The Auction House is the player-to-player market on Lifesteal. You put the item in your hand up for sale, either at a fixed price that anyone can pay right away or as a timed auction that goes to the highest bidder. Both modes are enabled, and prices can be set in Money or in Gems.

The main menu is titled Auction House and shows listings page by page. The buttons along the top row are:

Each listing shows who listed it, the price and how long is left. Clicking one opens a Confirm Purchase menu with Confirm, Abort and, for containers such as shulker boxes, a Preview button that shows what is inside before you pay.

My Listings shows your active listings. Click one to take it off the Auction House and get the item back. The menu also has Expired Items and Transaction History buttons.

Selling at a fixed price#

  1. Hold the item you want to sell in your main hand.
  2. Run /ah sell money 5000, or just /ah sell to be asked for the currency and price.
  3. Confirm in the Confirm listing menu.

The whole stack in your hand is listed and taken out of your inventory. The listing stays up for 1 day. If nobody buys it, it moves to /ah expired, where you collect the item again. When someone buys it you see "Your {item} has sold to {player} for {price}" and the money arrives minus the fee.

Timed auctions#

/ah auction works like /ah sell, with a starting bid instead of a price and a duration menu. The available durations are 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours and 1 day.

  • Bids must be higher than the current price. The error is "Your bid must be higher than {current}".
  • Every bid has to use the auction's currency, and you cannot bid on your own auction.
  • Your bid is taken from your balance immediately and held. If somebody outbids you, your money is returned and you receive an Outbid notification.
  • When time runs out the highest bidder wins. The seller is paid the winning bid minus the 1% fee, and the winner collects the item with /ah won.
  • An auction with no bids simply ends and the item goes back to the seller through /ah expired.
  • The seller can cancel an auction from My Listings: "Auction cancelled — your item was returned." A held bid is refunded.

An auction cannot be bought outright. Open it and click Place Bid; trying to buy it gives "This listing is an auction — place a bid instead".

Buying#

Clicking a fixed-price listing and confirming charges you immediately. The messages you can see are:

MessageMeaning
You have successfully bought {item} for {price}The purchase went through and the item is in your inventory.
Confirming your purchase, please stay online...The sale is being finished.
You need {price} to buy this itemYour balance is too low.
You cannot buy your own auctionYou tried to buy your own listing.
Your purchase could not be confirmed. If you were charged, the item is waiting in /ah wonCollect the item with /ah won.
You do not have enough space in your inventoryMake room, then claim again.

Items waiting in the Won Auctions and Expired Items menus are claimed by clicking them, and both menus have a Claim All button.

When someone buys a listing priced in Gems, the whole server sees a purchase announcement: "{buyer} just purchased {item} from {seller} for {price}!"

Tips#

  • Check /shop before you list. Items the shop buys have a base price that tells you what a fair listing is. See Shop and Selling.
  • Price high-value items in Gems only if you want a Gems buyer. Money listings reach more players.
  • Sell small stacks at several prices rather than one large stack, because each stack uses a listing slot.
