Spawner upgrades improve a placed spawner stack. You buy them from the Upgrades button in the spawner panel. Each upgrade is a short ladder of levels, bought in order with money.
How buying works#
- Open the panel with a right-click, then click Upgrades (it shows "Levels owned: X/Y") to open the Spawner Upgrades menu.
- Each upgrade button shows the current level, the next level, the current and next effect, the cost for the whole stack, and a status: Available, Maxed or Pending. An upgrade that cannot be bought for this spawner is not shown, for example Virtual Production on a mob with no virtual loot table.
- Click an Available upgrade to buy the next level. Levels cannot be skipped.
- "Pending" means a purchase is still being confirmed. It applies automatically and you are not charged twice.
- Upgrades apply to the whole stack and stay with it. If you add or split spawners, see Stacking Spawners.
- Upgrades are not owner-locked. Anyone who can open the panel can buy an upgrade for the spawner, paying with their own money.
Who is charged how much#
| Type | Price |
|---|---|
| Speed, Amount, Drop Chance, Virtual Production | The listed price for each spawner in the stack. A stack of 10 pays 10 times the price. |
| Storage, XP | The listed price once per stack, however big the stack is. |
If you change the stack size after opening the menu, the price you were shown no longer matches and the click is refused. Reopen the menu and try again.
Upgrade ladders#
All prices are in money.
Spawn speed#
Shortens the time between production cycles.
| Level | Speed | Time per cycle | Price per spawner |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.25x | 24 seconds | $1,000,000 |
| 2 | 1.5x | 20 seconds | $3,000,000 |
The base cycle is 30 seconds. Speed applies to both physical and virtual production. A powered Mob Summoner near the spawner speeds the cycle up further, on top of this upgrade.
Spawn amount#
Raises how much each cycle makes: mobs in physical mode, loot rolls in virtual mode.
| Level | Amount | Price per spawner |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.25x | $1,000,000 |
| 2 | 1.5x | $3,000,000 |
A physical cycle never spawns more than 64 mobs. A full stack of 64 spawners is already at that cap, so the Amount upgrade helps smaller stacks the most.
Drop chance#
Gives extra drops from mobs killed at the spawner.
| Level | Bonus | Price per spawner |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | +25% | $2,000,000 |
| 2 | +50% | $5,000,000 |
Each drop from a killed mob has a chance equal to the bonus of being duplicated. The upgrade does not affect virtual production, where every roll already succeeds.
Storage capacity#
Raises how many item slots the spawner can store. Each slot holds one drop as it was produced. See Spawner Storage.
| Level | Capacity | Price per stack |
|---|---|---|
| Base | 54 slots | Free |
| 1 | 8,192 slots | $500,000 |
| 2 | 32,768 slots | $1,500,000 |
XP capacity#
Raises how much experience the spawner can hold.
| Level | Capacity | Price per stack |
|---|---|---|
| Base | 10,000 XP | Free |
| 1 | 25,000 XP | $500,000 |
| 2 | 100,000 XP | $2,000,000 |
Virtual production#
Unlocks the virtual production mode for the spawner. One level only. See Production Modes.
| Level | Effect | Price per spawner |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Virtual mode unlocked | $1,000,000 |
Virtual production is only offered for mobs with a virtual loot table: Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, Spider, Blaze, Enderman, Cow, Iron Golem, Zombified Piglin and Pig. See Virtual Mob Drops.
Total cost to max a spawner#
| Group | Cost |
|---|---|
| Speed, Amount and Drop Chance (all levels), per spawner | $15,000,000 |
| Virtual production, per spawner | $1,000,000 |
| Storage and XP (all levels), per stack | $4,500,000 |
For example, a stack of 5 Zombie spawners with every upgrade costs 5 x $16,000,000 + $4,500,000 = $84,500,000 on top of the spawners themselves.
Which mobs can be upgraded#
Every mob can be upgraded. The same ladders apply to all of them: Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, Cow, Pig, Chicken, Sheep, Spider, Blaze, Iron Golem, Zombified Piglin and the rest.
