Vampire (Combat) is a Rare enchant for swords and axes. Every melee hit with the weapon heals you for 4% of the damage of the hit per level, up to 20% at level V. Lifesteal also has a different, Legendary enchant called Vampire among the core enchants; this page covers the Rare one from the Combat group.
How to get it#
Buy a Rare rune in the enchant shop for 20,000 XP. Opening the rune gives an enchanted book with one of the 13 enchants in the Rare pool, and every enchant in the pool is equally likely. See Runes for how the pool and the book level work.
Effect#
- Each melee hit you land while holding the weapon in your main hand heals you for a share of that hit's damage. The share is 4% per level, taken from the damage before the target's armor reduces it.
- The heal works against players and mobs.
- It does not trigger on arrows or other projectiles.
- You cannot be healed above your maximum health.
- Healing from this enchant is limited by the Lifesteal heal cap: together with Soul Eater, no more than 1.5 HP (three quarters of a heart) can be restored in any one second. See the lifesteal heal limit.
Levels#
| Level | Heal per hit | Hit damage at which the heal cap is reached |
|---|---|---|
| I | 4% of damage | 37.5 |
| II | 8% of damage | 18.75 |
| III | 12% of damage | 12.5 |
| IV | 16% of damage | 9.375 |
| V | 20% of damage | 7.5 |
For example, a hit worth 10 damage at level V would heal 2 HP, but the cap lets only 1.5 HP through if nothing else healed you in that second.
Notes and tips#
- The cap is counted over the last second, not per hit, so several hits within one second share the same 1.5 HP.
- The Legendary Vampire in the core enchants is a separate enchant with its own rules and is not covered by this limit.
- Armor that adds maximum health, such as Vitality, gives you more health to heal into.
