Mender is a Rare enchant for any piece of armor. Whenever you pick up an experience orb, it repairs the worn armor piece with the most damage by 0.5 durability per XP point for every level.
How to get it#
Buy a Rare rune in the enchant shop for 20,000 XP. Opening the rune gives an enchanted book with one of the 13 enchants in the Rare pool, and every enchant in the pool is equally likely. See Runes for how the pool and the book level work.
Effect#
- Each time you pick up an experience orb, the enchant repairs durability on one worn armor piece.
- The piece it repairs is the one that has lost the most durability points among your four armor slots, not the one with the lowest percentage left. It does not have to be the piece that carries Mender. Undamaged pieces are never chosen, and nothing happens if all of your armor is at full durability.
- The repair is 0.5 durability per XP point per level, rounded down, with a minimum of 1 durability for every orb.
- Mender does not use up the experience. You still gain all of it.
- It works only on experience orbs. Experience that is added straight to your bar, such as the XP you collect from a spawner's storage, repairs nothing.
- If you wear or hold damaged items with vanilla Mending, Mending uses an orb's experience first, and Mender only counts what is left.
Levels#
| Level | Durability per XP point | Example: one 10 XP pickup |
|---|---|---|
| I | 0.5 | 5 |
| II | 1.0 | 10 |
| III | 1.5 | 15 |
| IV | 2.0 | 20 |
| V | 2.5 | 25 |
Notes and tips#
- The level that counts is the highest Mender level among your worn pieces. Wearing it on several pieces does not add up.
- The repair is worked out separately for each orb you pick up, so the example column above assumes the experience arrives in one pickup.
- The in-game description says "per XP per level", but the number it shows is already the total for the book's level (2.5 at level V).
