Clan chat gives every clan a private channel, and ally chat extends it to every clan you are allied with. Clan chat uses the same chat filter as public chat.
Clan chat#
Only members of your clan see clan chat. There are three ways to use it.
| Method | How | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| One message | /cc <message> or /clan chat <message> | Sends that single message to your clan. |
| Prefix | Start a normal chat message with @ | Sends that message to your clan. |
| Switch channel | /cc or /clan chat with no message | Everything you type now goes to clan chat until you switch back. |
Running the switch command again returns you to normal chat. The game confirms each switch with "Clan chat is now enabled" or "Clan chat is now disabled".
Messages look like Leader <name>: <message> in green, with the sender's role (Leader, Co-Leader or Member) in front of the name. If you leave or are removed from your clan while a clan channel is still selected, your next message is not sent and you are switched back to normal chat with "You are now talking in {channel}."
Ally chat#
Ally chat reaches your own clan and every clan you are allied with. It does not need an alliance to work, but without allies only your own clan sees it.
| Method | How | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| One message | /clan ally chat <message> | Sends that single message to your clan and its allies. |
| Prefix | Start a normal chat message with ! | Sends that message to your clan and its allies. |
| Switch channel | /clan ally chat with no message | Everything you type goes to ally chat until you switch back. |
The game confirms each switch with "Clan allies chat is now enabled" or "Clan allies chat is now disabled". Ally chat lines are prefixed with [Clan Allies], followed by the sender's clan name, role and name, for example [Clan Allies] <clan> Leader <name>: <message>.
You have to be in a clan to enter either channel. See Clan Alliances for how to form alliances.
Switching from the /clan menu#
The /clan menu has a Clan Chat button and an Alliance Chat button. Each one switches the channel that your normal messages go to: the button glows and reads Enabled while that channel is selected, and clicking it again returns you to normal chat. Only one channel can be selected at a time, so choosing ally chat replaces clan chat and the other way round. See Clan Menu and Friendly Fire.
Filtering and logging#
Clan chat messages pass through the same chat filter as public chat. A blocked message is not delivered, and you see "Your message was filtered for {type}." Messages sent in clan and ally chat are recorded for moderation, like other chat, and the chat rules apply to both channels.
Clan tag in public chat#
Public chat shows your clan name in brackets in front of your name, such as [<clan>] <name>. Players without a clan show [*]. Your clan name is also shown on your nametag.
