The Nether is Lifesteal's second dimension, the source of Nether resources and fortresses. It is one world 50,000 by 50,000 blocks in size, centred on 0, 0, on Hard difficulty. PvP is on everywhere.
The random teleport menu describes it as: "Teleport randomly into the Nether. Explore the dangerous realm. Random Nether location. Gather Nether resources. Find fortresses." and warns "DANGER ZONE - High Risk Area".
Getting there#
| Method | Details |
|---|---|
| Nether portal | Build and light a portal in the Overworld. See Portals. |
/rtp nether | Teleports you to a random safe spot in the Nether. Also the Nether button of /rtpmenu. |
Coordinates#
Portals use the usual 8 to 1 ratio in both directions. Your Nether position is your Overworld position divided by 8, and the other way round. A portal in the Overworld at 8,000 blocks east leads to about 1,000 in the Nether. A safe spot near the destination is searched for, within 20 blocks sideways and 80 vertically.
Random teleport in the Nether#
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Area | X and Z from 0 to 25,000 |
| Height | Anywhere in the lower 80% of the Nether, so you never land on the roof |
| Distance from section edges | At least 16 blocks |
| Cooldown | 10 seconds, shared with every /rtp |
See Random Teleport.
Tips#
- Your hearts are on the line in the Nether just as in the Overworld, and nobody can see a fight coming in a fortress. See Hearts.
- Combat tag stops you using commands to escape. See Combat Tag.
