Cleave

Uncommon weapon enchant with a chance per melee hit to deal splash damage to every other creature within 2.5 blocks of your target.

Cleave is an Uncommon enchant for swords and axes. Each melee hit has a 5% chance per level to splash damage onto every other creature within 2.5 blocks of the target, with the splash damage equal to the enchant's level.

How to get it#

Buy an Uncommon rune in the enchant shop for 10,000 XP. Opening the rune gives an enchanted book with one of the 24 enchants in the Uncommon pool, and every enchant in the pool is equally likely. See Runes for how the pool and the book level work.

Effect#

  • Each melee hit with the Cleave weapon in your main hand rolls the proc chance, which is 5% per level.
  • On a proc, every other living creature within 2.5 blocks of the target takes splash damage. The target itself and you are excluded.
  • The splash damage is 1 HP (half a heart) per level of the enchant, before the armor of the creature it hits reduces it.
  • The splash does not start another Cleave proc.
  • The splash counts as a hit from you, so it can hit other players and mobs near your target. Players you cannot hurt with a normal hit, such as members of your clan or an allied clan unless both of you have friendly fire on, take no splash damage either. See Clan Alliances.

Levels#

LevelProc chanceSplash damage
I5%1 HP (0.5 heart)
II10%2 HP (1 heart)
III15%3 HP (1.5 hearts)
IV20%4 HP (2 hearts)
V25%5 HP (2.5 hearts)

Notes and tips#

  • Cleave only triggers on melee hits you land yourself, not on arrows or on splash damage.
  • The splash damage is set by the enchant level, not by the damage of your own hit.
  • It is most useful against groups. Against a single target it never adds damage.
