Resilience

Uncommon chestplate enchant that reduces the damage you take from other entities by 3% per level while your health is at or below 30%.

Resilience is an Uncommon enchant for chestplates. While you wear it and your health is at or below 30% of your maximum, every hit you take from another entity is reduced by 3% per level, up to 15% at level V.

How to get it#

Buy an Uncommon rune in the enchant shop for 10,000 XP. Opening the rune gives an enchanted book with one of the 24 enchants in the Uncommon pool, and every enchant in the pool is equally likely. See Runes for how the pool and the book level work.

Effect#

  • Each time another entity damages you, the game checks your health. At or below 30% of your maximum health, the hit is reduced by 3% per level of the enchant.
  • The reduction applies to damage dealt by other entities, such as players, mobs and their projectiles. Falling, fire and other environmental damage are not reduced.
  • Resilience shares a limit of 25% per hit with the Survival enchant Resolve: together they never reduce a hit by more than 25%. See the damage reduction limit.
  • Vanilla armor, Protection and damage reduction from other items or effects are separate and do not count toward that limit.
  • The reduction is subtracted from the same sum as the attacker's damage bonuses: final damage = base damage x (1 + bonuses - reductions), never below zero. A hit with Edge V (+20%) against Resilience V (15%) deals 1.05 times its base damage.

Notes and tips#

  • The threshold is a share of your maximum health, not a fixed number of hearts.
  • Resilience adds up with the Survival enchant Resolve. Resilience V (15%) and Resolve V (10%) together reach exactly the 25% limit; see Survival enchants.
  • Only a worn chestplate counts.
