Island Mastery

Island Mastery is the five-track progression system that rewards mining, farming, fishing, foraging and killing with sell price boosts, unlocks and requirements.

Island Mastery tracks what your island has done: how many ores your generator produced and you mined, how many crops you harvested, which mobs you killed, which logs you chopped and which fish you caught. Each thing you can do is an element with its own level from 1 to 75. Levels raise the sell price of that element's items, unlock new elements, and are required for generator tiers, spawners, robots and dimensions.

Open the menu with /masteries (or /island masteries). Mastery belongs to the island: every member's progress counts toward the same totals.

Earning experience#

Every qualifying action gives 1 experience point to the matching element. Experience is saved in the background every few seconds, so the menu can lag slightly behind.

  • Ore: only blocks created by your island generator count, and only when you mine them (Island Generators). Ores you place, or that are moved by pistons or destroyed by fire or explosions, give nothing.
  • Crops: breaking a fully grown crop. Sugar cane, pumpkins, melons, cocoa and bamboo count only if they have not been placed in the last day.
  • Foraging: breaking a log or stem that was not placed in the last day.
  • Fishing: each fish you catch.
  • Mobs: each mob you kill with a melee attack, each extra kill from Multi Kill, and each mob reaped from a managed spawner by hand (Reaping Spawners). Mobs killed by collectors earn 25% of the experience; robots earn none.

A Mastery XP Booster (from crates, envoys and events) multiplies the experience your whole island gains in every track while it runs, for example 2x for 1 hour. The multiplier and duration are shown on the item.

Levels#

Each element has its own experience table: level 1 needs 0 XP and level 75 needs between 5,692 and 128,182,250 XP depending on the element. The full tables are on the track pages. When your island passes a level, every online member sees "Your island has reached {Element} Level {n}!" and a title "Unlocked new perks!"

Perks#

Each element gives perks that grow with its level:

  • Sell price boost: +0.4% per level on the element's own sell items, so +30% at level 75. Boosts from different elements add together when they cover the same item (for example gold nuggets). It multiplies the base price like the other sell boosts (Sell Multipliers).
  • XP boost: extra experience orbs when mining or killing that element (shown in the menu as +X% Coal Ore XP).

Perk lines on the track pages show the exact formulas.

Unlocking elements#

Some elements start locked. An element unlocks when another element reaches a given level, forming a chain (for example Sheep level 8 unlocks Pig). Locked elements:

  • cannot be bought in the shop ("You haven't unlocked that crop yet!", "You haven't unlocked that sapling yet!", "You haven't unlocked that fish yet!", "You haven't unlocked that spawner yet!"),
  • show LOCKED in the menu with the missing mastery, the required level and a progress bar,
  • and do not collect experience.

Ore and Crops elements are all unlocked from the start. The Foraging, Fishing and Mobs chains start with Oak, Cod, and Sheep, Blaze and Enderman.

Locked elements show what is missing. Buttons: Back returns to the previous menu, arrows page through elements.
