Reaping Spawners

How to harvest managed spawners by hand, how many mobs you reap per hit, what drops, where overflow goes and how collectors and robots reap.

Reaping is how you turn the mobs waiting in a spawner's tank into drops, experience and kill credit.

Reaping by hand#

Attack the display mob above the spawner with a weapon, or shoot it. A hit that would kill the mob reaps instead: the spawner removes up to your reap capacity from its tank, rolls the drops for all of them at once and hands them to you. You need the island permission Monster Damage for hostile mobs or Animal Damage for animals.

  • Capacity per hit = 8 (base) + your island's Manual Mob Kill Capacity upgrade (+8, +24, +56, +120 or +248 mobs depending on the level, see Island Upgrades) + bonuses from the Multi Kill and Slayer perks. If the tank holds less, you reap what is there.
  • Cooldown: a spawner can be reaped at most once every 0.5 seconds.
  • One swing, one reap. Sweeping attacks, splash and burst damage from enchants never reap neighbouring spawners; a piercing arrow or a multishot volley reaps only one spawner.
  • Drops use the Looting level of the weapon in your main hand and experience is the mob's normal value. An empty tank answers "This spawner has no mobs ready yet."

Enchants on reaps#

The kill-reward enchants Plunder, Wisdom, Tribute and Payday work on hand reaps with the weapon you hit with, with the same expected value as killing that many mobs normally. Other death-triggered enchants do not apply to reaps. See Skyblock Enchants.

Drops#

A reaped mob rolls its normal vanilla loot table (with Looting from your weapon). The island's extra mob drops do not apply to reaps. Villager spawners are special: each reaped villager drops 3 to 5 diamonds instead of its vanilla drops.

Overflow and storage#

Drops go straight into your inventory. Whatever does not fit goes into the spawner's storage (54 stacks, plus stored experience): "Your inventory is full: 3 stacks went to the spawner's storage." If the storage is full too, the surplus drops at your feet. Open the spawner menu and click Storage to take everything (needs Spawner Break).

Automated reaping#

Collectors and mob Slayer robots near a spawner reap it automatically:

CollectorRobot
Mobs per cycle8 times the collector's normal per-cycle mobsUp to the robot's output limit per operation
Drops keptThe spawner's Automation yield (60% to 85%)The spawner's Automation yield; what the robot cannot store goes to the spawner's storage

Automated reaps never advance quests, island challenges or kill statistics. Collectors and robots reap without a player killer, so drops that vanilla only gives when a player kills the mob (blaze rods and wither skeleton skulls) are not rolled for them.

Experience and kill credit#

Hand reaps count every mob for Mob Mastery, weekly island challenges and butchery quests. Collector reaps grant 25% of the Mob Mastery experience.
