Giantkiller

Rare weapon enchant that adds 20% damage per level against targets with 30 or more maximum health.

Giantkiller is a Rare enchant for Diamond Sword swords and axes. Against any target whose maximum health is 30 or higher, it adds 20% damage per level, up to +100% at level V.

How to get it#

  • Rare rune. A Rare rune costs 30,000 XP in the enchant shop. The Rare pool holds 12 enchants, so one Rare rune in twelve gives Giantkiller. The book has a random success chance and an unrevealed level; see Enchanted Books.

Giantkiller does not appear on any crate gear.

Effect#

While you hold the enchanted weapon in your main hand, each hit that lands on a target with 30 or more maximum health deals extra damage. The condition checks the target's maximum health, not its current health, so a wounded giant still counts.

  • Common mobs such as zombies, skeletons and creepers have 20 maximum health or less and never count. Mobs with 30 or more include Endermen, Hoglins, Iron Golems and Ravagers, and bosses such as the Wither.
  • The check only looks at maximum health, so a player whose maximum health has risen to 30 or more, for example through Vitality armor, counts as well.
  • Its bonus is added to your other damage enchants rather than multiplied; see how combat enchants work together.
  • There is no chance roll and no cooldown.

Levels#

LevelExtra damage to targets with 30+ maximum health
I+20%
II+40%
III+60%
IV+80%
V+100% (double damage)

Notes and tips#

  • Giantkiller is the enchant to carry for tough targets; against everyday mobs it does nothing, so Butcher is the general-purpose choice.
  • It stacks with Butcher on the same weapon: Butcher V and Giantkiller V together add 175% damage to a large mob.
  • A rune book reveals a random level from I to V, and the lower levels are the likelier ones; see level of the book.
