Skyblock is the Netherite game mode where every player builds on a private island of their own. You farm crops, mine a generator, kill mobs and sell what you collect to earn money, then spend that money on upgrades that make the island bigger, faster and more profitable. You can play alone or share your island with a team.

Join Skyblock#
- Connect to the server and open the server selector from the hub, see Getting Started on Netherite and Server Selector.
- Choose Skyblock. You arrive at the Skyblock spawn.
What you get on your first join#
The first time you join Skyblock you receive:
- $10,000 to start with.
- The default starter kit: leather armor, an iron sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel and hoe, a fishing rod, 64 cooked beef, and 8 each of carrots, wheat, wheat seeds, potatoes, sugar cane and cactus.
- The Starter Guide book. Right-click it, or type
/guide, to open the Skyblock Progression Guide menu at any time.
Step 1: create your island#
- Type
/islandat spawn. - Click Create Island, then Original Island.
- You are teleported to your new island. Creating an island is free, and your island is private: only you can enter until you invite people or open it.
You can own up to 2 islands and be a member of up to 3, and you can create an island once a minute. All the details are in Creating an Island. If you would rather join a friend, ask them for an invite instead, see play with others below.
Step 2: your first 30 minutes#
This is the order the in-game guide suggests.
- Plant your starter crops. Plant the seeds and crops from the kit on your island. Crops and the island they grow on are covered in Island Mastery.
- Mine your generator. Your island has a cobblestone generator that produces stone and, with upgrades, ores, see Island Generators.
- Sell what you collect. Hold the items and use
/sell hand, or open/shopat spawn. Check your money with/balance. See Skyblock Economy and Shop. - Follow your quests. Open
/questsfor objectives and rewards, see Quests. - Level your masteries. Everything you farm, mine and kill raises island masteries, which unlock crops, mobs and bonuses. Open
/masteries, see Island Mastery. - Fill orders.
/orderslets you fill requests from other players. Daily/voterewards are free, see Voting.
Step 3: grow your island#
Money buys permanent upgrades. Open /is upgrades to see them.

Other ways to grow:
- Generator tiers raise the share of ores your generator makes, see Island Generators.
- Spawners fill a tank with mobs over time that you harvest for their drops, see Managed Spawners.
- Robots and collectors automate harvesting, mining and killing, see Automation.
- Nether and End. Unlock them for $50,000,000 and $1,000,000,000 plus a mastery goal. They add new crops, mobs, a generator and a permanent sell boost, see Island Dimensions (Nether and End).
- Weekly island challenges pay money and, in the End, the Dragon Egg Relic, see Island Challenges.
Play with others#
Islands can be shared. Island members share upgrades, value and masteries.

Things to know early#
- Your island is private. New islands start private. Open it only when you want visitors, see Island Warps and Visiting.
- Island value is deposit based. The island leaderboard counts items you deposit into the Island Value Cauldron, not your blocks, see Island Level and Value and Island Top.
- The weekly leaderboard pays Gems to the top three islands, see Island Top.
- Upgrades are paid by whoever clicks. Money comes from the buyer's own balance, not a shared bank.
- Deleting an island is permanent. See Deleting and Resetting an Island before you disband.
