Disbanding an island permanently deletes it: its worlds, its upgrades, its members and everything else stored on the island. Only the island owner can do it, it asks for confirmation first, and it cannot be undone. There is no separate reset command. To start over, disband the island and create a new one.
Disbanding an island#
- Run
/is disband(alias/is delete), or open/island, click the island and click Disband Island. - A window titled Disband your Island opens. It shows "Are you sure you want to disband your island?" and "This action cannot be undone!".
- Click the green Accept area on the right to delete the island. Click the red Decline area on the left to cancel. The window stays open until you choose.
- After you accept you see "Your island has been disbanded!".
If you belong to several islands, the command acts on the island you are standing on. Away from your islands you are asked to pick one in the Select an Island menu first, see Creating an Island. Stand off-island or on the island you mean to delete. If you are standing on an island you only joined, the command targets that island and refuses it.
Who can disband#
Only the island's Owner can disband. The permission to disband cannot be passed to another role. Co-Owners and Officers cannot do it either.
Anyone else who accepts the confirmation sees "You are not the owner of the island!" and nothing is deleted. A member who wants out should use /is leave instead.
If the island's world cannot be unloaded, nothing is deleted and you see "Failed to unload your island! Try again in a second!". Try again after a moment.
What is deleted#
Disbanding removes the island and everything stored on it. Nothing is refunded.
| Deleted with the island | Notes |
|---|---|
| The island worlds | The Overworld, the Nether and the End of the island, with every block, chest, hopper, farm, spawner and build in them |
| Members and co-op players | Everyone loses their place on the island. Pending invites to the island are removed too |
| Bans | The island's ban list |
| Roles and permissions | The island's permission choices and every member's role |
| Island settings | Time, weather, biome and the island rules, see Island Settings |
| Warps and the island home | Public and private warps, see Island Warps and Visiting |
| Upgrades | Every upgrade level you bought, see Island Upgrades. Nothing is refunded |
| Island value and Island Top place | The island's value and its ranking, see Island Level and Value |
| Masteries | The island's mastery progress, see Island Mastery |
| Weekly challenge progress | Objective progress and claim records of the island, see Island Challenges |
| Generator and robot progress | The island's generator tier, its robot progression and the placement of its robots. See Automation for robots |
| Recruitment listing | The listing disappears and every pending application is cancelled. Applicants are told their application was cancelled, see Island Recruitment |
| Marketplace listing | An active listing of the island on the island marketplace is cancelled, see Island Marketplace |
What happens to members#
- Members are removed from the island without a separate message. The island simply disappears from their island list and the menus close.
- The member's own belongings are untouched. Only what they stored on the island is lost with it.
- Each member gets the joined-island slot back, so they can accept another invite straight away.
What you keep#
Disbanding touches the island and nothing else. Everything that belongs to your account stays:
- Your money, and your other currencies such as Gems.
- Items you are carrying and your rank and store purchases.
- Strikes, if you have any. They belong to the player, not the island, see Island Top.
- Your place as a member of any other island.
Island progression is the part that does not travel. Upgrades, value, masteries, challenge progress, the generator tier and all settings are stored on the island, not on the player. A new island starts again at the first level of everything.
Creating a new island afterwards#
- Slot: disbanding frees one of your owned-island slots at once. The default limit is 2 owned islands.
- Waiting time: a new island can be created 1 minute after the previous creation. The wait counts from when the last island was created, not from when it was disbanded. If you created the island more than a minute ago you can create the next one immediately.
- Result: a fresh copy of the island template, private, with you as the owner and every upgrade at its first level. See Creating an Island.
Starting over: there is no reset#
No command resets an island in place. /is resetname only clears the island's custom name. To start over you have these options:
| Goal | How |
|---|---|
| Start again from nothing | Disband the island, then create a new one with /is create |
| Try a fresh island and keep the old one | Create a second island while you have a free owned slot, then disband either later |
| Keep the island but change who runs it | Transfer ownership, see below |
| Give the island to someone for a price | List it on the island marketplace, see Island Marketplace |
Leaving an island#
Members who are not the owner leave with /is leave or with the Leave Island button in the island menu. There is no confirmation window: you leave at once and see "You have left the island!".
- The owner cannot leave. The owner sees "You are the owner of the island!" and has to transfer ownership or disband.
- If you are standing on the island when you leave, you are sent to the spawn only when the island is closed. On an open island you stay there as a visitor.
- You lose your role, your access to the island and any permissions it gave you. You keep everything that belongs to your account.
- The leave frees a joined-island slot. The default limit is 3 joined islands.
- To come back you need a new invite or an accepted application, see Island Members and Roles and Island Recruitment.
- With several islands, the command acts on the island you are standing on, or asks you to pick one.
Transferring ownership instead#
/is transfer <player> hands the island to another member. It keeps the island and all its progress and changes only who owns it. Details on roles and members are on Island Members and Roles. The rules are:
- Only the owner can transfer, and the target has to be a current member of that island.
- The target must be able to own another island. If they already own as many as they may, the transfer fails with "The target has reached their owned island limit!".
- You stay on the island as a regular member with the Default role. If that would put you over your joined-island limit, you are removed from the island instead.
- The island's active marketplace listing, if any, is cancelled.
- You see "Your island has been transferred to
<player>" and the new owner sees "You are now the owner of the island!".
Messages you may see#
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Your island has been disbanded!" | The island is gone |
| "You are not the owner of the island!" | You tried to disband an island you do not own |
| "Failed to unload your island! Try again in a second!" | The island world could not be unloaded. Nothing was deleted |
| "You have left the island!" | You left successfully |
| "You are the owner of the island!" | Owners cannot leave |
| "You are not member of the island!" | You are not on that island |
| "You don't have an island! Try creating one with /island create command!" | You are not a member of any island, so there is nothing to disband or leave |
| "The target has reached their owned island limit!" | The transfer target owns too many islands already |
Tips#
- Before disbanding, check the island menu's Island Members list. Everyone on it loses the island too, and a short warning is kind.
- If you only want a clean slate on a farm, rebuild that area instead. Disbanding resets upgrades, masteries and value as well.
- Consider transferring or selling the island if other players have invested in it.
