Chest Shops

Chest Shops let you turn a chest on your island into a player shop that buys and sells one item for money or gems, with a searchable directory.

Chest Shops are player-run stores. You turn a chest into a shop that sells one item type, buys it from other players, or both. Customers use the shop from a menu, and you collect your income as money or gems. This page covers how they work on Skyblock; see Chest Shops for the network-wide description.

Creating a shop#

You need a chest on ground where you can build, with two free blocks above it. Any of these starts a shop:

  • Sneak and left-click the chest while holding the item you want to trade. A confirmation asks "Are you sure you want to turn this chest into a Chestshop?" (Yes, create chestshop / Cancel).
  • Place the Chest Shop item (a chest named Chest Shop, "Place to create a shop").
  • Attach a sign reading [SHOP] to the chest.

The chest must be empty ("This chest is not empty."). Some items cannot be sold in chest shops ("This item can't be sold in a chest shop."). Messages when you are out of room: "You have reached the maximum amount of shops you can create.", "You cannot create a shop here. It must have two blocks free above it."

A hologram above the shop shows {owner}'s Chestshop, the item, and its buy and sell prices.

Setting up the shop (owner)#

Right-click your shop to open the owner menu:

ButtonFunction
Selected itemThe item the shop trades.
Set Buy Price (emerald)The price players pay per item to buy from your shop.
Set Sell Price (gold ingot)The payout you pay per item to players who sell to your shop. Leave it unset for a shop that only sells.
Storage (chest)Deposit Items or Withdraw Items in steps of 1, 16, 32 or 64.
Transaction HistoryEvery trade: type, player, quantity, price and date.

When you set a price you choose the currency, Money or Gems, then type the amount. Clear removes a price. A shop's payout price can never be higher than its selling price ("Your payout price can't be higher than your selling price..."). The item of a shop cannot be changed while the shop still holds items ("Cannot update shop item with items inside.") and a shop with items cannot be removed ("Cannot remove shop with items inside.").

You are notified of trades: "Steve bought 64x Wheat from your shop! (+$640)" and "Steve sold 64x Wheat to your shop! (-$320)".

Using a shop (customer)#

Right-click a shop. The menu has Buy (lime pane) and Sell (red pane) buttons showing the price and stock; a disabled side shows "You cannot buy from this shop." or "You cannot sell to this shop." Pick an amount (1, 16, 32 or 64). Results: "Trade successful. Bought 16x Wheat for $160."

Common refusals: "The shop does not have enough items to buy.", "You do not have enough money to buy.", "The shop does not have enough money to sell.", "You do not have enough space to buy."

Chest shop trades are taxed 2%.

Directory#

  • /shops (alias /chestshops) opens Shop: Browse Shops (by category) and Search Shops (search by item).
  • The directory lists shops with the item, buy price, sell price and stock, and filters for Search, Minimum stock, Buy price and Sell price. Left-click a filter to set it, right-click to remove it. Click a shop to see it.
  • The Chest Shop Directory button inside /shop opens the same listing (Buying From the Shop).
  • /myshops (alias /mychestshops) lists your own shops with location, stock and prices; click one to manage it from anywhere you can reach it ("That shop is not reachable from here. Visit it to manage it.").
