The Island Border is the invisible edge of your island world. Everything you can build, farm or walk on lies inside a square that is centred on the island. The border starts at 100 x 100 blocks and grows with the Island Size upgrade, up to 1000 x 1000 blocks.
Overview#
- The border is a square. The size is its diameter, so a 100 border runs 50 blocks from the island centre in every direction.
- The border is the same for every member and every visitor, and it is always centred on the island spawn area (the middle of the island world).
- Players cannot walk past the border. Trying to move outside it is cancelled, so you simply stop at the edge. Interactions that target a point outside the border (placing blocks, using items, clicking entities) are cancelled too.
- There is no warning zone, no damage and no visual countdown at the edge: the border is a hard stop.
- The Nether and the End of your island use the same border size as the Overworld, see Island Dimensions (Nether and End).
Growing the border#
The border grows with the Island Size upgrade, bought with /is upgrades, see Island Upgrades.

- A purchase applies as soon as the upgrade is confirmed. The border of an island that is already loaded expands without a restart, and an expanded border never shrinks while the island is loaded.
- If any member of your island holds a perk that grants an even larger island, the island uses the larger of the perk value and the upgrade value.
Tips#
- A 100 x 100 island is plenty for early generators and farms. Reaching 200 x 200 (level 4) costs $3.45M in total.
- Everything on the island counts against the same border, including your island warps, so keep warps well inside it, see Island Warps and Visiting.
- Hoppers and other limited blocks are not tied to island size, see Island Block Limits.
