Island Challenges

Weekly team objectives that every island member contributes to, with island-wide money rewards, a Dragon Summon Egg boss fight and the weekly Dragon Egg Relic.

Island Challenges are the weekly team objectives of Skyblock. Every member of an island adds to the same progress, the challenges change every week, and finished challenges pay out money, items and, for the End, the Dragon Egg Relic. They are opened with /is challenges (alias /is challenge) and are a separate system from Challenge Races.

How the weekly rotation works#

  • Each week every unlocked world of your island (Overworld, Nether, End, see Island Dimensions (Nether and End)) is assigned up to 3 challenges.
  • The challenges are drawn from the pool below, per island, and kept for the whole week. Two islands can have different sets.
  • Only challenges your island can actually finish are drawn. Crop challenges need the matching crop to be unlocked by your crop mastery, generator challenges need a generator that can produce the block, and mob challenges need the mob to be unlocked as a spawner by your mob mastery (see Island Mastery, Island Generators and Managed Spawners).
  • Some challenges are always assigned when the world is unlocked: Chorus Harvest and Dragon Slayer in the End. They take two of the End's three slots, so the End always has one drawn challenge (End Hunter or Shell Seekers).
  • The draw tries not to repeat last week's set when other eligible challenges exist.
  • A world is drawn the next time your island plays in it. If you unlock a world mid-week, only that world is drawn; the other worlds keep their challenges.
  • The week resets every Monday at 00:00. Progress, claims and the relic reset with it. The clock item in the menu shows the time left.
  • Progress is shared: every member's contribution adds up to the same total. Each objective shows your own part as "(you: N)".

The challenge menu#

/is challenges opens Weekly Island Challenges.

ButtonWhat it shows
Overworld ChallengesCompleted / total with a progress bar. Click to open the list.
Nether ChallengesSame for the Nether. A barrier means the Nether is locked: "Unlock this world to receive its weekly challenges."
End ChallengesSame for the End.
Dragon Egg RelicShows the relic state: locked with progress, claimable, claimed, or "only the owner, or a member with the relic permission, can claim it".
Weekly Rotation (clock)Time until the next draw and how many challenges each world gets.

A grey dye instead of a world button means the world is unlocked but not drawn yet: "This world's challenges are drawn the next time your island plays in it."

The Weekly Challenges list for a world shows one item per assigned challenge:

BarrierThe challenge is no longer part of the weekly set.

Rewards#

Rewards are island-wide: there is one claim per challenge, per island and week. The first member who clicks the finished challenge receives it, and the whole island is told who claimed it. If another member already took it you get "<player> already claimed your island's <challenge> reward this week!". Money rewards go to the claimer's own balance. Make sure you have free inventory space before you claim an item reward.

Challenge pool#

Targets are the island-wide total needed to finish. Overworld challenges pay $100,000, Nether challenges $400,000 and End challenges $1,500,000 (Dragon Slayer pays items).

What counts#

  • Generator blocks only count when your island generator produced them. Natural or placed blocks do not count.
  • Blocks you place yourself do not count for break objectives for 1 day after you place them.
  • Crops must be fully grown when harvested.
  • Kills must be hits by a member (melee, sweep or projectile). A mob that only dies to fall damage, fire or another mob after you damaged it does not count. Mobs must come from the world itself or a spawner; eggs, breeding and plugin spawns do not count. Shell Seekers counts spawner shulkers only.
  • Progress goes to the island whose world you are standing in, and only if you are a member of it. Visitors working on your island add nothing.
  • The vanilla dragon of an island End never counts for Dragon Slayer.

Dragon Egg Relic#

The Dragon Egg Relic is the weekly prize of the End.

  • It unlocks when your island completes every End challenge assigned to it that week.
  • It can be claimed once per island per week, by the owner or by a member whose role has the relic claim permission. By default only the owner has it, see Island Permissions.
  • The whole island is told who claimed it. The relic can be claimed again after the Monday reset.
  • The relic is a single-stack, tradeable item. It cannot be placed, used in crafting, anvils, grindstones or smithing, or moved by hoppers and dispensers.
  • It is worth 10,000 island value when added to your island value, see Island Level and Value.

Dragon Summon Egg#

The Dragon Summon Egg spawns the dragon that the Dragon Slayer challenge needs.

Where to get itShop, category Island Value Items, $10,000,000
Where to use itRight-click in your island's End (not on a chest, door or other usable block)
Who can use itIsland members only
CooldownIsland-wide, 7 days, but never longer than the time until the next Monday reset
Dragon despawns1 hour after it is summoned
Dragon appears12 blocks above you
  • The egg is consumed. If the island cooldown is still running the egg is handed back with "Your island can summon another dragon in <time>!".
  • Using the egg anywhere except your island's End gives "You can only summon a dragon in your island's End!".
  • Every member shares the cooldown, and the island is told who summoned the dragon.
  • The dragon stays through an unload of the End and keeps its 1-hour limit.
  • End crystals cannot be used to revive a dragon near the exit portal: "Dragons cannot be revived here! Use a Dragon Summon Egg instead."
  • The egg is not a block and cannot be placed or dispensed.

Tips#

  • Make sure the crop, generator tier or spawner mob that a challenge needs is unlocked before the week starts. The draw only offers challenges your island can finish.
  • Because rewards are claimed by the first member to click, decide among your team who should receive money and items.
  • Plan the dragon fight: the egg costs $10,000,000, the cooldown is shared, and the dragon despawns after 1 hour.
  • Challenge progress is separate from mastery levels, but the same actions (harvesting, mining, killing) advance both.
