Island Marketplace

The Island Marketplace is the Skyblock market where a player sells a whole island to another player. The seller sets a price in money, the island appears in a browser, and when someone buys it the island changes owner, every old member is removed and the seller is paid minus a 1% fee. The marketplace trades islands only. It does not trade items.

Overview#

• It is opened with /is market. Three commands cover everything, see Commands.
• A listing is for one island. An island can have at most one listing at a time.
• Only the owner of an island can list it. Co-Owners and other members cannot.
• Prices are in money, see Money.
• The buyer pays the full price. The seller receives the price minus the 1% fee, and only when the sale happens. Listing is free.
• A listing lasts 7 days and then disappears by itself.
• The marketplace is on. There is no button for it in the island menu. You reach it with the commands.

Commands#

Browsing, listing, buying and previewing are four separate abilities. If a part is not available to you, the game answers with its own message, for example "You don't have permission to purchase islands on the marketplace." or "You don't have permission to preview marketplace islands."

Browsing listings#

/is market opens the Island Marketplace, a five-row menu titled Island Marketplace.

• The middle three rows hold the listings, seven per row, so 21 per page. The bottom row has the previous and next page arrows.
• Listings are ordered newest first.
• The menu loads at most 45 listings each time it opens. That is three pages. Listings beyond the 45 newest are not reachable from the menu.
• Expired listings are hidden at once, even before they are cleaned up.
• A listing whose island has changed owner or been disbanded is removed when it is next seen.

Both values are the island's current numbers, not the numbers at listing time.

Island Listing#

Clicking a listing opens the Island Listing menu, titled Island Listing. The top left shows the same lines as the browser entry. The buttons depend on who is looking.

Preview#

Preview Island teleports you to the listed island as a guest. You see "Teleporting to marketplace preview. You are a guest and cannot build." You can look around only. It works even when the island is closed to the public. Use it to check the builds, and use the two value numbers to judge how developed the island is.

If the island cannot be reached, you get "Could not teleport to the listed island." If previews are switched off the answer is "Island marketplace previews are disabled." Previews are on.

Selling your island#

Before you list#

• You must own the island. The Sell Island menu only shows islands you own. With none, you see "You don't have any islands to sell."
• The island must not be listed already. A listed island shows a red barrier named after the island with "Already listed on the marketplace" and cannot be selected.
• You can have 3 active listings at the same time by default. A player's own limit can differ from the default. Over the limit you get "You've reached the maximum number of active listings."
• There is no cooldown between listings and no minimum island level.
• Listing does not lock the island. You keep full control and can keep playing on it until it is sold.

Listing steps#

1. Run /is market sell, or click Sell Island in the browser. The Sell Island menu opens with your owned islands, seven per row.
2. Click an island to select it. A selected island turns into a green emerald block named Selected. Clicking it again deselects it. Only one island can be selected at a time.
3. Click Confirm Listing, the green check at the bottom. The menu closes.
4. A prompt titled Listing Price asks "Enter listing price". Type the price in money. Cancelling stops the listing.
5. A prompt titled Listing Description asks "Enter optional description (or cancel to skip)". Type a description of up to 200 characters, or cancel to leave it empty. Longer text is cut after 200 characters.
6. The Confirm Listing screen appears. Click List Island, or Cancel.
7. You see "Successfully listed your island for sale!"

The confirmation screen and the fee#

Before the listing is created, the Confirm Listing screen shows the numbers of the sale:

Players who are exempt from the fee see "Fee: Waived (fee exempt)" and receive the full price.

• The fee is not charged when you list. It is taken from your payout when the island is sold. If the listing expires or you remove it, you pay nothing.
• Example: a price of $10,000,000 gives a fee of $100,000 and a payout of $9,900,000.
• A price of $0.01 or less is refused with "Price is too low to cover the listing fee."
• Prices must be positive numbers. Anything else answers "Please enter a valid price (positive number)."

Errors when listing#

Managing your listings#

/is market mylistings, or the My Listings button of the browser, opens My Island Listings, a five-row menu with a Back arrow and page arrows. It lists up to your 45 newest listings.

In Island Listing the only action for a seller is Remove Listing. It removes the listing at once, shows "Successfully removed your listing from the market." and returns to the previous menu. You can list the island again whenever you like, at a new price.

A listing ends by itself when:

• it has been up for 7 days. A check that runs every 5 minutes delists it, and it is hidden from the browser from the moment it expires
• the island is disbanded, see Deleting and Resetting an Island
• the island changes owner by any other route, for example a transfer of ownership. A listing whose seller no longer owns the island is removed

A sold listing is closed as well.

Buying an island#

Steps#

1. Open /is market and click the island you want. Preview it first if you like.
2. Click Buy Now. The menu closes and the Confirm Purchase screen opens: "Buy this island for <price>?" and in red "All current members will be removed."
3. Click Purchase to buy, or Cancel.
4. On success you see "Successfully purchased the island! It is now yours."

The price is taken from your money balance. If the island cannot be handed over, for example because ownership changed in the meantime, the money is refunded and the purchase is cancelled.

Who can buy#

• Any player who may buy islands and has the money. You cannot buy your own listing.
• You need a free owned island slot. With the default limits a player can own 2 islands, see island limits. Without a slot you get "Buying this island would exceed your owned island limit." and are not charged.
• Joined island slots are not used, because you become the owner, not a member.

Errors when buying#

What changes hands#

A sale changes who owns and who belongs to the island. It does not reset, copy or rebuild anything about the island itself.

• The seller is not notified by a message when the sale completes. The payout simply arrives in the balance.
• The buyer is not moved to the island automatically. Use /is home or the island menu, see The Island Menu.
• The buyer starts with an empty team and can invite or recruit new members, see Island Members and Roles and Island Recruitment.

Fees and limits#

Tips#

• Preview before you buy. A listing can only show two numbers, the weekly and the all-time value.
• Check your owned island slots before you buy. A purchase over your limit is refused.
• Everyone on the island is removed at the sale, so tell your team before you list, and remove the listing if you change your mind.
• Set a price that leaves room for the fee. The confirmation screen shows the exact payout before you commit.
