Island members are the players who share one Skyblock island under a ranked team. Every member has one of seven roles, the island holds a limited number of players, and an owner or officer can invite, promote, kick or ban people. Players who are only passing through are visitors, and players given temporary access are co-ops.
Roles#
The roles are listed from lowest to highest. A higher role outranks every role below it.
| Order | Role | Colour in chat | Can be given to a member | How a player gets it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Guest | White | No | Every player who is not a member or co-op. This is what a visitor is |
| 2 | Co-Op | Green | No | Added with /is coop <player>, see Co-op players below |
| 3 | Default | Gray | Yes | Everyone who joins an island starts here |
| 4 | Trusted | Aqua | Yes | Promoted from Default |
| 5 | Officer | Blue | Yes | Promoted from Trusted |
| 6 | Co-Owner | Yellow | Yes | Promoted from Officer, by the owner |
| 7 | Owner | Gold | No | The player who created the island, or who received it with /is transfer <player> |
- Only Default, Trusted, Officer and Co-Owner can be handed out with the promote, demote and role commands. Guest, Co-Op and Owner are set by other actions.
- Each island has exactly one Owner. The owner's role cannot be changed, and the owner cannot be kicked or banned.
- Trusted has no extra rights by default. It exists as a step you can attach permissions to, see Island Permissions.
- What each role may do is decided per island by the permissions menu. By default Default members use the island, Officers manage the team, Co-Owners run the island, and the Owner can do everything including disbanding it. The full table is on Island Permissions.
Who can change whose role#
A role change needs three things at once:
- You hold Promote Members (to raise a role) or Demote Members (to lower one). Officers and above hold both by default.
- Your role is higher than the target's current role.
- Your role is higher than the role you are giving.
| You are | You can promote | You can demote |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Default to Trusted, Trusted to Officer, Officer to Co-Owner | Co-Owner to Officer, Officer to Trusted, Trusted to Default |
| Co-Owner | Default to Trusted, Trusted to Officer | Officer to Trusted, Trusted to Default |
| Officer | Default to Trusted | Trusted to Default |
| Trusted or Default | Nobody, because there is no role below them to hand out | Nobody |
You cannot give a role equal to or above your own, and you cannot change a player of your own rank or higher. Only the Owner can create or remove a Co-Owner.
Inviting and joining#
Inviting a player#
/is invite <player> sends an invite to the island you act on. If you belong to several islands, the island you are standing on is used, otherwise you pick one, see Which island does a command act on?.
You need the Invite Member permission, which belongs to Officer and above by default. The invite also works from the Invite a Player button of the Island Members menu, which opens a text prompt titled Invite that asks for the player's name.
The invite is refused when:
| Situation | What you see |
|---|---|
| You lack the permission | "You don't have permission to do that!" |
| The island is full | "You have reached the maximum amount of members!" |
| The player is already a member | "<player> is already a member of this island!" |
| The player is banned from the island | "<player> is banned from the island!" |
| The player already has a pending invite to this island | "You have already invited <player> to this island!" |
| The player already belongs to as many islands as they may join | "The target has reached their joined island limit!" |
| The name is not a known player | "Player not found! Have they joined the server?" |
On success you see "<player> has been sent an invite to your island!" and the player receives "<name> invited you to <island name>!" with clickable [ACCEPT] and [REJECT] buttons.
Invites do not reserve a slot. The member limit and the player's joined-island limit are checked when the invite is sent and again when it is accepted.
/is cancelinvite <player> withdraws a pending invite. It needs the same Invite Member permission. The answer is "Cancelled invite to <player>", or "Invite does not exist!" if there was none.
Accepting or rejecting#
| Command | Aliases | Result |
|---|---|---|
/is accept <inviter> | /is join | You join as a Default member and see "Accepted invite from <name>." |
/is reject <inviter> | /is decline | The invite is deleted and you see "Rejected invite from <name>." The inviter is not notified |
Accepting only joins the island. It does not teleport you. Use /is home afterwards, see Island Warps and Visiting.
Accepting fails when:
| Situation | What you see |
|---|---|
| No pending invite from that island | "Invite does not exist!" |
| The island filled up since the invite | "Island member limit reached!" |
| You belong to as many islands as you may join | "You have reached the maximum number of islands you can be a member of!" |
| You are banned from the island | "You are banned from the island!" |
Invite expiry#
An invite lasts 5 minutes. If it is still unanswered after that, it is removed and the invited player sees "Your island invite has expired." After it expires you can send a new one. Cancelling, rejecting, accepting or being banned removes an invite at once.
Other ways to join#
- Recruitment: an island can advertise itself in the island directory and review applications from players. An accepted application adds the player as a Default member, and the same member limit, joined-island limit and ban rules apply. See Island Recruitment.
- Buying an island: a buyer on the island marketplace becomes the owner and every other member and co-op is removed, see Island Marketplace.
The Island Members menu#
/is members opens the menu for any member. The Island Members button in the island menu opens it only for a member who holds at least one of Invite Member, Kick Member, Ban Members, Promote Members or Demote Members. For anyone else the button does nothing, see The Island Menu.
The window is titled Island Members and has five rows.
| Element | What it shows | What a click does |
|---|---|---|
| Player head for each member | The member's name with "Role:" and their role. "Click to view the member's profile." | Opens that member's menu if you hold at least one of Kick Member, Ban Members, Promote Members or Demote Members. Otherwise the head shows "No permission." and nothing happens |
| Invite a Player (clock), bottom centre | "Invite a player to your island." | Opens the invite prompt if you hold Invite Member. Without it nothing happens |
| Arrows at the bottom corners | Previous and next page | Moves between pages of members |
The list shows members only. Co-ops are not listed there, use /is coops.
A single member's menu#
Clicking a head opens a four-row window titled Island Member > <name>.
| Button | Icon | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Promote to <Role>! | Green arrow | Raises the member one step, for example Default to Trusted |
Demote to <Role>! | Red arrow | Lowers the member one step |
| Kick | Red paper with a cross icon | Removes the member from the island |
| Ban | Red paper with a blocked icon | Removes the member and bans them |
| Info | Paper | Shows "Player name:" and "Role:". Not clickable |
A button you cannot use is replaced by a greyed variant that explains why:
| Button | Replacement | Reason shown |
|---|---|---|
| Promote | Cannot promote (barrier) | "You've reached the highest role you can promote to." The member is already Co-Owner |
| Promote | Cannot promote (barrier) | "You don't have permission to promote members." |
| Promote | Cannot promote (barrier) | "You are not permitted to elevate members to a role equivalent to or exceeding your own." |
| Demote | Cannot demote (barrier) | "You've reached the lowest role you can demote to." The member is already Default |
| Demote | Cannot demote (barrier) | "You don't have permission to demote members." |
| Demote | Cannot demote (barrier) | "You are not permitted to lower members to a role equivalent to or exceeding your own." |
| Kick | Cannot kick | "You don't have permission to kick members." |
| Kick | Cannot kick | "You are not permitted to kick members with a role equivalent to or exceeding your own." |
| Ban | Cannot ban | "You don't have permission to ban members." |
| Ban | Cannot ban | "You are not permitted to ban members with a role equivalent to or exceeding your own." |
- Your own entry always shows the "equivalent to or exceeding your own" variants, because nobody outranks themselves.
- The demote button only checks that you outrank the new role. If you click it on a player of your own rank, the server still refuses with "You don't have permission to do that!".
- After a successful kick or ban the menu returns to the member list. If the action fails, the menu closes and the reason appears in chat.
- The window closes by itself if the member leaves the island while you are looking at it.
Changing roles#
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/is promote <player> | Moves the member up to the next role that can be assigned |
/is demote <player> | Moves the member down to the previous role that can be assigned |
/is setrole <player> <role> | Sets a role directly. Tab completion offers default, trusted, officer and co_owner |
The rules under Who can change whose role apply to all three and to the menu buttons.
On success you see "<player> role has been changed from <old role> to <new role>", and the member sees "Your role has been changed from <old role> to <new role>".
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
"<player> is already at the highest promotion!" | The member is a Co-Owner, so /is promote <player> has nowhere to go |
"<player> is already at the lowest demotion!" | The member is Default |
| "You cannot change the owner's role!" | The target is the Owner. Use /is transfer <player> |
"Player <player> is not member of the island!" | The player is not a member. Co-ops have no role to change |
| "You don't have permission to do that!" | A rule above is not met |
Leaving, kicking, banning and expelling#
| Action | Command | Needs | Who it works on | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leave | /is leave | Be a member, not the owner | Yourself | You leave at once, with no confirmation |
| Kick | /is kick <player> | Kick Member, Officer and above by default | A member below your role | The member is removed. They can be invited again |
| Ban | /is ban <player> | Ban Members, Officer and above by default | Any player, member or not, unless a member of your role or higher | The player is removed if a member, and cannot come back |
| Unban | /is unban <player> | Ban Members | A banned player | The ban is lifted |
| Ban list | /is banlist | Ban Members | Shows "Banned players:" and the names, or "There are no banned players!" | |
| Expel | /is expel <player> | Expel Players, Officer and above by default | An online player standing on the island, without Expel Bypass | Sends the player to the spawn without removing or banning them |
Leaving#
/is leave and the Leave Island button of the island menu remove you from the island you act on. You see "You have left the island!".
- The owner cannot leave. The owner sees "You are the owner of the island!" and has to transfer or disband, see Deleting and Resetting an Island.
- If you are standing on the island, you are sent to the spawn only when the island is closed. On an open island you stay there as a visitor.
- You lose your role and your access. Your joined-island slot is free again.
- No message is sent to the other members.
Kicking#
A kick removes a member without banning them. You need Kick Member and a role strictly higher than the target's.
- The target is told "
<player>has kicked you from the island!" and you see "You have kicked<player>from the island!". - Trying to kick the owner answers "You cannot kick
<player>!". Trying to kick someone of your rank or above answers "Player<player>is higher role than you!". - A player who is not a member answers "
<player>is not a member of the island!". Use/is uncoop <player>for co-ops. - A kicked player who is standing on the island is sent to the spawn only if the island is closed. On an open island they stay as a visitor.
- There is no waiting time before a kicked player can be invited again.
Banning and unbanning#
A ban keeps one player away from the island for good. It can be used on players who are not members and who are offline, as long as they have joined the network before.
- You need Ban Members. If the target is a member, your role must be higher than theirs. You cannot ban yourself ("You cannot ban yourself!") or someone who is already banned ("Player
<player>is already banned from the island!"). Some players, such as staff, cannot be banned: "You cannot ban<player>!". - Banning a member also removes them from the island and cancels their pending invite.
- A banned player who is standing on the island is sent to the spawn at once, even on an open island.
- A banned player cannot be invited ("
<player>is banned from the island!"), cannot accept an old invite, cannot apply through recruitment and cannot teleport to the island ("You are banned from the island!"). - Bans do not expire.
/is unban <player>lifts one, or says "Player<player>is not banned from the island!" when there is nothing to lift.
Ban and expel are explained next to visiting and teleporting on Island Warps and Visiting.
Transferring ownership#
/is transfer <player> gives the island to another member. There is no confirmation: the command acts as soon as you press enter.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Who can do it | Only the owner. Anyone else sees "You don't have permission to do that!" |
| Who can receive it | A current member. Anyone else answers "<player> is not a member of the island!". Naming yourself answers "They are already the owner of this island!" |
| Limit for the new owner | They must be able to own another island, 2 by default. Otherwise "The target has reached their owned island limit!" |
| The previous owner | Becomes a Default member. If that would exceed their joined-island limit, 3 by default, they are removed from the island instead and sent to the spawn |
| The new owner | Becomes the Owner immediately |
| Marketplace | An active listing of the island on the marketplace is cancelled |
The old owner sees "Your island has been transferred to <player>" and the new owner sees "You are now the owner of the island!". Upgrades, value, masteries and every setting stay with the island, see Deleting and Resetting an Island.
Member limits#
Players per island#
The limit counts everyone on the member list, the owner included. Co-ops do not count.
| Max Members level | Cost to reach | Players allowed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Starting level | 7 |
| 2 | $500,000 | 8 |
| 3 | $2,000,000 | 10 |
| 4 | $10,000,000 | 12 |
| 5 | $50,000,000 | 15 |
The upgrade is bought in the upgrade menu by a player with Upgrade Island, Officer and above by default. The full ladders of all upgrades are on Island Upgrades.
A rank perk can raise the limit as well. The perk text names the number of players the island can hold. The island uses the highest number out of its Max Members level and the rank perks of every player on the island's list, co-ops included:
| Rank | Perk shown in the rank ladder |
|---|---|
| Gold | "Invite 7 Island Members" |
| Obsidian | "Invite 7 Island Members" |
| Diamond | "Invite 8 Island Members" |
| Emerald | "Invite 10 Island Members" |
With the starting level at 7, the Gold and Obsidian perks add nothing today. Diamond lifts a level 1 island to 8 and Emerald lifts it to 10. See Donor Ranks. If the player holding the rank leaves, the limit falls again. Nobody is removed when that happens, but the island accepts no new members until it is under the limit again.
Islands per player#
| Limit | Default | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Islands you can own | 2 | Creating an island and receiving one by transfer or purchase |
| Islands you can join | 3 | Accepting an invite, an accepted recruitment application, and the previous owner who stays on an island as a member after a transfer |
The two limits are separate. With the defaults you can own 2 islands and be a member of 3 more. Joined islands do not count towards the owned limit and the other way round. See Creating an Island.
Co-op players#
A co-op is a player the island gives temporary building rights without making them a member. Co-ops are meant for a friend who is visiting.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/is coop <player> | Adds the player as a co-op |
/is uncoop <player> | Removes a co-op |
/is coops | Lists the co-ops as "Co-op members:", or "You have no co-op members!" |
- You need the Coop Members permission to add or remove co-ops, which belongs to Co-Owner and above by default. Listing needs no permission beyond being a member.
- An island can have 3 co-ops at a time. The 4th answers "You have reached the maximum amount of co-op members!".
- A player who is already a member or a co-op answers "
<player>is already a member of this island!". - The co-op is told "
<player>has added you to their co-op." and, when removed, "<player>has removed you from their co-op.". - A co-op has the Co-Op role. By default that lets them build, break, use crafting stations and interact, and it does not let them open chests, fish, or breed and hurt animals. See Island Permissions.
- Co-op access is temporary. It ends on its own when the co-op player disconnects while on the island or changes world away from it. Removing a co-op by hand ends it sooner.
- A co-op is not a member. They cannot use
/is homeor any other island command, they are not shown in the Island Members menu, they cannot read island chat, and their activity does not count for weekly island challenges. - A co-op cannot enter a closed island with
/is visit <player>unless the owner lowered Close Bypass to Co-Op, see Island Warps and Visiting.
Visitors, co-ops, members and banned players#
| Visitor | Co-op | Member | Banned | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Role | Guest | Co-Op | Default up to Owner | None |
| How a player becomes one | Enters the island | Added with /is coop <player> | Invite or accepted application | Banned with /is ban <player> |
| Can enter an open island | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Can enter a closed island | No, unless Close Bypass is lowered to Guest | No, unless Close Bypass is lowered to Co-Op | Yes | No |
Uses island commands such as /is home | No | No | Yes | No |
| Listed in the Island Members menu | No | No | Yes | No |
| Counts towards the member limit | No | No | Yes | No |
| Limit | None | 3 per island | 7 to 15 players | None |
| Default rights | Interact with buttons, levers, doors and similar blocks | Build, break, use crafting stations, pick up and drop items | Everything a co-op can, plus chests, animals, fishing, robots and island chat | None |
| Counts for weekly island challenges | No | No | Yes | No |
Can be expelled with /is expel <player> | Yes | Yes | No, members hold Expel Bypass by default | Sent to the spawn when banned |
| Lasts | While they stand there | Until removed, logout or leaving the island's world | Until they leave, are kicked or banned | Until unbanned |
The rights of every role can be changed by the owner in the permissions menu, so the "Default rights" row describes the default settings only.
What happens to a leaving member's things#
Leaving, being kicked and being banned all work the same way for belongings:
- Kept by the player: items they carry, their money and other currencies, and their rank and store purchases.
- Stays with the island: upgrades, island value, masteries, challenge progress, the generator tier, warps, settings, bans and the permission choices. These belong to the island, not to a player. A leaving member takes none of it with them, and nothing is removed or refunded. See Deleting and Resetting an Island for the full list of what is stored on an island.
- Contributions: value the player already added to the island stays in the island's value. The player's attribution to that island is cleared, so further contributions are no longer credited to it. See Island Level and Value.
- Role: lost. A player who returns is a new Default member, whatever role they had before.
- Access: lost at once. On a closed island a member who is standing there is sent to the spawn. On an open island they stay as a visitor.
Messages you may see#
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "You don't have an island!" | You are not a member of any island |
| "You don't have permission to do that!" | Your role lacks the permission, or you are not above the target's role |
| "You have reached the maximum amount of members!" | The island is full |
| "Island member limit reached!" | The island filled up before you accepted |
| "You have reached the maximum number of islands you can be a member of!" | You are at your joined-island limit |
| "Invite does not exist!" | No pending invite to cancel, accept or reject |
| "You are not member of the island!" | You tried to leave an island you are not on |
Tips#
- Give people only the role they need. Trusted costs nothing and lets you raise individual permissions for a few friends, see Island Permissions.
- Before inviting a stranger, check how many players the island holds with
/is list. Invites to a full island fail. - Use co-op for a one-off helper. If someone will come back, invite them instead.
- If an Officer sent the invite, tell the invited player to use the owner's name with
/is accept <owner>. - Ban griefers rather than kicking them. A kick can be undone with a new invite, a ban cannot.
