Island Upgrades

Ten money upgrades that raise your island's member limit, size, warps, hopper limit, crop growth, sell price and more, with every level and cost.

Island Upgrades are permanent, island-wide improvements that you buy with money. Every island has ten upgrade types, each with a ladder of levels. All upgrades apply to the whole island and its members. They are opened with /is upgrades (alias /is upgrade). The Island Upgrades button in the island menu opens the same menu, but only for the island owner. Other members use the command.

How upgrades work#

  • Every island starts at level 1 of every upgrade. Level 1 is free and is already active; the "cost to reach" column below starts at level 2.
  • You always buy the next level only. You cannot skip levels.
  • The cost is taken from the balance of the player who buys it, not from a shared island bank.
  • The buyer needs the island permission to upgrade. By default that is Officer and above, and the island owner can change it, see Island Permissions.
  • Upgrades are bought per island. If you own two islands, each has its own levels.
  • If a level is bought but cannot be applied the payment is refunded. A repeated click on the same upgrade is not charged twice.
  • A fully upgraded type says "There is no upgrade available!".
  • If a member of your island holds a perk that grants a bigger island or more members than the upgrade, the larger value applies for those two upgrades.

The upgrade menu#

The Island Upgrades menu shows one button per upgrade type with your current value and, when you can buy a next level, the new value and its cost. Click a button to buy the next level. The back button returns to the island menu.

Tips#

  • The cheap unlocks first: Waterless Crops and Lightless Crops are $250,000 each and remove the need to plan crop farms around water and light.
  • The first levels of Sell Boost cost $250,000 and $1M and pay for themselves quickly if you sell often.
  • Island Size is the most expensive ladder. The early levels (up to 250 x 250) cost $11.45M in total.
  • Agree with your team on who buys upgrades, because the buyer pays and Officers and above can buy by default.
