Grove

Rare axe enchant with a 25% chance to break connected tree blocks around the one you chop, up to 5 at level V.

Grove is a Rare enchant for Diamond Axe axes. When you chop a tree, it has a 25% chance to break connected tree blocks around the one you chopped. A higher level breaks more blocks per proc.

How to get it#

Grove comes from the Rare rune, which costs 30,000 XP in the enchant shop. The Rare rune pool in Skyblock holds 12 enchants and each one is equally likely, so a Rare rune gives Grove about 1 time in 12 (8.3%). Grove is not on any crate gear.

A book from a rune comes with an unknown level between I and V. Lower levels are more likely than higher ones (see the table below) and the book's success chance is random between 1% and 100%. See Runes and Enchanted Books.

Effect#

  1. You break a tree block (a log, wood block, stem or leaves) with a Grove axe in your main hand.
  2. Grove rolls a 25% chance. The chance is the same at every level.
  3. On success it finds connected tree blocks, logs and leaves, starting from the block you broke and moving outward, nearest first. It breaks up to 1 of them per enchant level.

Connected blocks are those touching sideways, above or below, or diagonally on the same level. It stops at the limit for your level or when no more connected tree blocks are found.

The block you broke is part of the search as well: it is counted right after the tree blocks directly touching it. When the limit is larger than that number, the chopped block takes one place in it, so the proc breaks one block fewer beyond the one you chopped. At level II on the bottom log of a thin trunk, for example, Grove breaks the log above and the chopped log, which is one extra block.

The extra blocks:

  • cost no durability;
  • do not trigger Grove or Topple again, give no Logger XP and do not replant with Reforest (this includes the chopped block when the proc takes it);
  • drop their items normally, so Sawmill sells them like the drops of any other block;
  • are only broken where you are allowed to build.

Notes and tips#

  • Grove is a steady helper rather than a tree feller. For whole trees use Topple, which fells up to 40 blocks at level V but fires only 5% of the time.
  • Grove and Topple roll separately, so both can fire on the same block.
  • Chop the lowest log of the trunk by hand if you also use Reforest, because Reforest ignores blocks that Grove broke, including the chopped log when the proc takes it.
