Island Dimensions are the three worlds that belong to every Skyblock island: the Overworld (your island itself), the Nether and the End. The Nether and the End are private to your island and are not available from the start. Each one is bought once per island with money and a mastery requirement, and it then stays unlocked for every member of that island.
Overview#
- Vanilla portals do not take you to a shared Nether or End. A portal built on your island sends you to your island's own Nether or End world.
- Until a dimension is unlocked, a portal to it cannot be built or used. Trying to light a Nether portal frame on a locked island is cancelled, and walking into a portal on a locked island shows "This island has not unlocked the Nether dimension yet!".
- Unlocking the End requires the Nether to be unlocked first.
- Each unlocked dimension adds a permanent sell boost to what you earn selling items.
- Any island member who can open the dimension menu can unlock a dimension. The money is taken from the balance of the player who clicks, not from a shared island bank.
The dimension menu#
Open it with /is dimensions (alias /is dimension). The island must be loaded; otherwise you see "Your island must be loaded to manage dimensions!".

- The entry for the dimension you are standing in shows "You are here!" and does nothing when clicked.
- Teleporting from the menu is instant: Skyblock has no teleport warm-up.
- A locked entry lists the cost and, below it, the prerequisite and the mastery paths with your current progress for each requirement (a green tick when met, a red cross when not).
Unlocking a dimension#
When you click a locked dimension the checks run in this order, and the first one that fails stops the unlock:
- The dimension is not already unlocked.
- For the End, the Nether is already unlocked.
- At least one mastery path of that dimension is complete (see below). All requirements inside that path must be met; you do not need the other paths.
- You can pay the money cost. If the payment goes through but the unlock cannot be saved, the money is refunded automatically.

Mastery paths#
A path names a mastery category and the level you need in one of its elements. See Island Mastery for how to level masteries.

The Nether Wart, Blaze and Ancient Debris masteries are themselves Nether content, so the End practically needs a working Nether island first.
Sell boost#
Every unlocked dimension multiplies the price you get when you sell items to the shop. Buying prices are not changed.

Boosts multiply with each other, so an island with both dimensions unlocked sells at x1.155 (+15.5%). The boost follows the island you currently have selected. See Skyblock Economy for how selling works and how this stacks with other boosts.
Travelling by portal#
- Overworld to Nether: build a Nether portal frame on your island and walk in. Light it only after the Nether is unlocked.
- Overworld to End: build an End portal on your island. It only works once the End is unlocked.
- Back to the Overworld: the portal inside the Nether or End always works, even if you came by menu.
- Portals do not use the position of your frame. Going into the Nether or End always puts you at the arrival point of that dimension (see below), so you will not land over the void. Going back puts you at your island's home.
- Portal use has a short cooldown of 3 seconds per player.
- End gateways are removed on islands. You cannot use them to reach outer End islands.
Arrival points#
By default the Nether and the End arrive at the centre of a starter platform (x 0.5, y 64, z 0.5 in that world). You can move the arrival point of a dimension to where you are standing:
/is setspawn <dimension>
Stand on solid ground inside the dimension you want to change (overworld, nether or end) and run the command. If you are in a different world than the one you named, you get "You must be inside your island's Nether to set its spawn!". For the Overworld the command moves the island spawn, like /is sethome. Portals and the dimension menu prefer the spawn you set over the default.

Crops and spawners are restricted to the dimensions in the table. Planting a crop in the wrong dimension is refused with "<crop> can only be planted in: <dimensions>", and a spawner placed in the wrong dimension is refused with "A <spawner> spawner can only be placed in the <dimensions>!". Shop items locked by dimension#
Some shop items only make sense in one dimension: crop seeds and spawners show "Grows only in" or "Works only in" lines. If your island has not unlocked the required dimension, buying the item is refused with "Your island needs the Nether unlocked to buy that!" (the message lists every dimension the item still needs). A few related messages you may see:
- "Go to your island to buy that. Its unlocked worlds can only be checked there." - open the shop while standing on your own island.
- "Your island hasn't loaded yet. If you don't have one, create one first." - the island has not finished loading, or you do not have one.
- "Your island's worlds are still loading. Try again in a moment."
Nether generator tiers#
Your Nether has its own basalt generator that you upgrade in Island Generators. Tier 1 is free. Each higher tier costs money and requires a mastery level in the ore named in the last column. Percentages are the chance of each block.

Loading and unloading#
Island dimensions are loaded on demand when someone enters them and are unloaded once they are empty, together with the island. If you see "Could not teleport to the Nether dimension. Please try again." or "Could not travel through the portal. Please try again.", the world was still loading; try again after a few seconds. If an unlock fails after payment, the cost is refunded automatically; if even the refund fails you are asked to contact staff through Support Tickets.
Tips#
- The cheapest way to the Nether is whichever mastery path you already have: wheat 15, zombie 10 or cobblestone 10.
- Unlock the Nether before you stock up on Nether crops or spawners, because those shop items refuse to be bought until it is unlocked.
- Because the boost is multiplicative and permanent, the End boost applies to every sale, including items that have nothing to do with the End.
