The Mining Robot is one of the five robot types. It mines the nearest block that your generator formed within its radius.
Getting it#
- Reach level 5 in Ore Mastery (any element), then unlock the mining type in the Robot Shop for $15,000.
- Buy a robot for $60,000. The rarity (Standard 75%, Legendary 20%, Mythic 5%) is rolled on purchase.
- Deploy it on your island from its Manage Robot menu. The same Mastery level 5 is required to deploy.
What it does#
- Mines only blocks that were formed by your island generator and are still in its current output pool for that dimension. A coal ore you placed yourself is never touched. Blocks the generator filter disabled are skipped.
- Only mines blocks whose drops it is allowed to store: tier 1 robots do not get stuck on a coal ore if only cobblestone is allowed.
- Works in the Overworld and the Nether. It does not work in the End.
- Picks the nearest eligible block, swings, removes the block and stores the drops. It uses a netherite pickaxe without enchantments, so there is no Fortune bonus.
- Does not give Ore Mastery experience.
Output#
Raw drops (no Fortune) of the generator blocks it mines, such as cobblestone, coal, raw copper, raw iron, raw gold, lapis lazuli, redstone, diamonds, emeralds, and in the Nether quartz, gold nuggets, ancient debris, basalt, netherrack, blackstone, magma blocks, glowstone dust and gilded blackstone. Up to 16 items per operation.
Work speed#
Base interval 2 seconds. The interval is divided by Speed x Efficiency x Activity Bonus x rarity Performance (Standard x1.0, Legendary x1.35, Mythic x1.75). The table assumes Speed, Efficiency and Activity Bonus are all at the level shown (each level multiplies by 1.1):
| Upgrade level (each of the three) | Standard | Legendary | Mythic |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 2.000 s | 1.481 s | 1.143 s |
| 1 | 1.503 s | 1.113 s | 0.859 s |
| 2 | 1.129 s | 0.836 s | 0.645 s |
| 3 | 0.848 s | 0.628 s | 0.485 s |
| 4 | 0.637 s | 0.472 s | 0.364 s |
| 5 | 0.479 s | 0.355 s | 0.274 s |
Capacity (x1.15 per level, rounded) is how many operations happen each time: 1 at base and levels 1 to 2, 2 operations at levels 3 to 5. Radius grows from 3 to 8 blocks and built-in storage from 1,728 to 4,608 items over five levels each. See robot upgrades for all costs and requirements.
Nether Mining path#
Mining robots have an extra upgrade path, Nether Mining, with 3 levels at $250,000, $500,000 and $750,000. Each level gives x1.1 Speed and x1.1 Efficiency. It needs the Nether unlocked.
Tips#
- Pair it with a high generator tier (Generator Tiers) so that the nearest block is more often an ore.
- Put the robot beside several generators; it mines whichever generated block is closest.
- Use the Nether Mining path for extra speed and efficiency in the Nether.
