Claim Duels

Claim Duels

Challenge another player to a consensual 1v1 inside a claim with /duel once the claim owner has turned duels on, with timeouts and exact rules.

Claim Duels are friendly 1v1 fights between two players who agree to fight inside a claim. PvP is otherwise off in the main Survival worlds, and a duel never turns it on for anyone else.

Turning duels on#

The Claim Duels permission decides who may start or accept a duel in a claim. It defaults to Nobody, so the claim owner has to open it:

  1. Open /claim edit in the claim and click Claim Permissions.
  2. Set Claim Duels to the role that should be allowed, for example Guest or Everyone. Or set it in /claim global to apply it to all claims.

Both fighters must be allowed to duel in that claim. See Claim Permissions.

Commands#

CommandWhat it does
/duel <player>Challenge a player who is on your server and standing in the same claim
/duel acceptAccept the challenge you received
/duel deny (alias /duel decline)Decline the challenge you received
/duel cancelWithdraw the challenge you sent

A challenge expires after 30 seconds. The target gets clickable [Accept] and [Decline] buttons. You can have one open challenge at a time, and a player can hold only one pending challenge.

Rules#

  • Both players must stand in the same owner's claim when the challenge is made and again when it is accepted.
  • The duel starts with "Your duel against <player> has started! Stay inside the claim."
  • Only the two duelists can hurt each other. Other players cannot hit them, throw splash or lingering potions at them or use lingering clouds on them ("You cannot interfere with a duel.").
  • The duel ends when either player dies, disconnects or teleports away.
  • Knockback may carry you over the claim border. You then have 5 seconds to get back in, or the duel is over. Both fighters are warned and told when the other returns.
  • The loser keeps their inventory and experience on a duel death.
  • Duels do not count as real kills for kill tracking or combat tagging.
