Smelter is a Common enchant for tools. It runs the items that a block drops through the furnace recipes, so mining iron ore gives iron ingots and mining stone gives stone instead of raw ore and cobblestone.
How to get it#
Smelter comes from the Common rune. A Common rune costs 10,000 XP in the enchant shop and turns into an enchanted book with one of the 11 Common enchants in Survival, picked at random, so each rune has a 1 in 11 chance of being Smelter. Smelter has a single level, so its book needs no level reveal.
Effect#
Every block you break with the enchanted tool in your main hand has its drops smelted (the chance is 100%). Each dropped item is replaced by the result of its smelting recipe, keeping the same amount. Items without a smelting recipe drop unchanged. Typical results:

The smelting happens on the drop list, so enchants that change the amount, such as Fortune, still apply first.
Notes and tips#
- Smelter fits any tool, so an axe with Smelter turns logs into charcoal and a shovel turns sand into glass.
- Items arrive smelted when Telekinesis is on the same tool. Compressed Miner can then pack the ingots into storage blocks.
- Smelter gives no experience for the smelted items.
