Strength Tradeoff is a Legendary enchant for Diamond Chestplate armor that trades safety for damage. While you wear a piece with it you have the Strength IV effect, and every attack that hits you deals 35% more damage.
How to get it#
Strength Tradeoff comes from the Legendary rune. A Legendary rune costs 200,000 XP in the enchant shop and turns into an enchanted book with one of the 31 Legendary enchants in Survival, picked at random, so each rune has a 1 in 31 chance of being Strength Tradeoff. See Runes for how the success chance of a rune book is rolled. Strength Tradeoff is also a possible reward in crates (Crates).
Strength Tradeoff has a single level, so its book needs no level reveal.
Effect#
- Strength IV for as long as at least one worn armor piece carries the enchant. The effect has no particles and no icon, and it is removed when you take the piece off.
- 35% more damage taken from attacks by other entities (players, mobs and projectiles). Each hit's damage is raised by 35%. Damage that has no attacker, such as falls, fire or drowning, is not increased.
Wearing the enchant on several pieces gives the same effect once; it does not stack. If you already have Strength IV or stronger from another source, the enchant does not replace it.
Notes and tips#
- Strength IV is a very large damage bonus, so the enchant suits players who win fights quickly. A longer fight costs more health.
- It combines with defensive enchants such as Hardened and Last Stand, which soften the extra damage.
