Your claim limit is the total number of chunks you can own at the same time. It is one number for all Survival worlds: a chunk in the Nether counts the same as a chunk in the overworld.
How the limit is built#
Your limit is the sum of three parts:
| Part | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Rank amount | The chunk claims listed on your rank. See the table below |
| Claim growth | +1 chunk each time your growth timer fills while you are online |
| Vouchers | Each Claim Limit Voucher you redeem adds the number printed on it |
Claims you buy from other players on the Claim Market use up slots of this limit. Town land has a separate limit, see Town Claims.
Rank amounts and claim growth#
These are the amounts shown in the in-game rank menus.
| Rank | Chunk claims | Claim growth |
|---|---|---|
| Axolotl | 40 | +1 every 10 hours |
| Allay | 60 | +1 every 8 hours |
| Glare | 80 | +1 every 7 hours |
| Illusioner | 105 | +1 every 6 hours |
| Hoglin | 125 | +1 every 4 hours |
| Strider | 150 | +1 every 2 hours |
| Netherite | 150 (inherits Strider) | +1 every hour |
| No rank | Base amount only | +1 every 12 hours |
See Donor Ranks for everything else each rank unlocks.
Claim growth#
- A timer counts the time you spend online on a Survival server. Each time it reaches your growth interval, your claim limit rises by 1 and you see: "Increased your claim limit by 1. You can now claim N chunks."
- There is no cap on how many claims you can earn this way.
- A higher rank shortens the interval. Players without a rank grow by 1 chunk every 12 hours.
- Growth is permanent. Unclaiming land never reduces your limit, it only frees slots.
Claim Limit Vouchers#
A Claim Limit Voucher (+N) is a glowing grass block. Right-click it to redeem it: the item is consumed, your limit rises by the number in its name and you see the same "Increased your claim limit" message as for claim growth. A voucher cannot be placed as a block.
Vouchers come from rewards such as some crates, the Mystery Vault and monthly vote milestones (see Voting).
Checking and freeing slots#
- The message when you run out is "You've reached the maximum number of claims."
- Free a slot with
/unclaim(see Claiming Land) or by selling a claim on the Claim Market. - Transferring a claim to another player only works if they have a free slot, see Claiming Land.
