Town claims are chunks owned by the town rather than by one player. They use the same chunk rules as personal claims, but they count against the town's own limit, and the town's permissions decide who may manage them.
Town land is a feature of the Survival overworld, Nether and End. There are no separate plots: town land is simply a set of claimed chunks.
Claim land for the town#
- Stand in the chunk. You need the Manage Claims permission, which the Mayor holds by default. See Town Permissions.
- Run
/town claim. The chunk is outlined for 10 seconds and the game says "Type /town claim again to claim this chunk for the town." - Run
/town claimagain inside the 10 seconds. You see "You have claimed this chunk for <town>." The claim is named after the town.
A personal /claim and a town /town claim confirm separately, so you can have one of each waiting at the same time.
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "You cannot claim land for your town here." | Claiming is not allowed in this world or on this server |
| "This chunk is already claimed." | Someone already owns it |
| "Your town has reached its claim limit. Upgrade it with /town upgrade." | The town already has 10 town claims. Unclaim one to claim elsewhere |
| "Your town rank does not allow you to manage town claims." | You lack the town permission for that button in the Manage Town Claim menu |
Limit#
Every town can hold 10 claims. The Town Upgrades menu sells Members, Warps and Vault upgrades only, so the town claim limit cannot be raised, even though the limit message mentions /town upgrade. See Town Upgrades.
Town land does not use up the personal claim limits of its members. See Claim Limits.
Remove town land#
- Stand in the chunk and run
/town unclaim. You see "You have unclaimed this town chunk." If the chunk is not claimed by your town you see "This chunk is not claimed by your town." - Personal
/unclaimcannot release town land.
See your claims#
/town claims opens Town Claims, a paged list of every town chunk with its name, world and chunk coordinates. Any member can open it. Click a chunk to open the Manage Town Claim menu.
Manage Town Claim menu#
The menu shows the claim's name, world, chunk and how long ago it was claimed.
| Button | Needs | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Teleport to Claim | Any member | Teleport to the claim |
| Rename Claim | Manage Claims | Rename the claim in a "Rename Town Claim" prompt |
| Claim Permissions | Edit Claim Permissions | Open the claim permission menu |
| Claim Settings | Edit Claim Permissions | Open the claim toggle menu |
| Unclaim Chunk | Manage Claims | Confirm "Unclaim this chunk?" and release the chunk |
There is no guest list on town land. Town membership governs access.
How town land differs from personal claims#
- Access: every town member is a resident, and the claim's permissions decide what residents, guests and everyone else may do. Defaults and options are in Claim Permissions.
- Management: only members with the right town permission can rename, change settings or unclaim.
- Bans: personal claim bans do not apply to town land. See Claim Bans.
- Upgrades, transfers and the claim market: these only apply to personal claims.
- Home and warps: the town home and town warps must be set inside a claim owned by a member of your town, which includes town land. See Town Home and Warps.
- Notices: entering shows "You have entered <town>'s town claim." and leaving shows "You have left <town>'s town claim."
- Map: town claims show on the online map as "<town>'s Town". See Live Survival Map.
