Town permissions decide which role is needed for each town action. Every permission has a minimum role: Citizen, Deputy or Mayor. Anyone at that role or higher can do the action.
By default all 14 permissions are set to Mayor, so a new town is run by its Mayor alone until they delegate.
Change permissions#
- Run
/town permissions(or click Town Permissions in the/townmenu). This needs the Manage Town Permissions permission, which the Mayor always has. - Left-click a permission to move its minimum role forward (Citizen, Deputy, Mayor) and right-click to move it backward. The selected role is shown in bold in the lore.
- Close the menu. Your changes are saved and you see "Town permissions updated."
The Mayor outranks everyone and can always act, whatever the settings say.
A Deputy who is given Manage Town Permissions can only save changes while every permission is set to Deputy or Citizen, and can never raise one to Mayor. Otherwise the save is refused with "You do not have permission to perform this action."
The permissions#
| Permission | Allows | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Rename Town | /town rename <name> | Mayor |
| Invite Members | Invite, cancel invites and view pending invites | Mayor |
| Kick Members | /town kick <player> | Mayor |
| Set Town Announcement | /town announcement [text] | Mayor |
| Set Town Color | /town color | Mayor |
| Set Town Warp | Create and delete town warps. Also needed to delete the town home | Mayor |
| Set Town Home | Set and delete the town home (deleting also needs Set Town Warp) | Mayor |
| Set Town Banner | /town setbanner | Mayor |
| Manage Town Permissions | Open this menu and change it | Mayor |
| Set Member Roles | Promote and demote members | Mayor |
| Access Town Vault | Open the vault with /town vault | Mayor |
| Toggle Member PvP | /town pvp | Mayor |
| Manage Claims | /town claim, /town unclaim, rename and unclaim town land | Mayor |
| Edit Claim Permissions | Change permissions and settings of town claims | Mayor |
The last three appear in the menu as plain Barrier icons without the permission name, in this order after the named permissions: Toggle Member PvP, Manage Claims, Edit Claim Permissions. They work the same way as the others.
What every member can always do#
These need no permission: /town home, /town warp <warp>, /town warps, /town claims, /town upgrade (to buy upgrades), /town chat, /tp <player> to a town member, /tptoggle, /town contributions, /town strikes [town], /town leave, /town info and /town top.
Role changes and permissions#
A role change is limited by rank. Only someone with Set Member Roles can promote or demote, and anyone who is not the Mayor can only change people ranked below them and never to their own rank. In practice only the Mayor promotes and demotes. See Town Members and Roles.
