The Overworld is the permanent Survival world and the place to build. It is one continuous map, 70,000 blocks across, from -35,000 to 35,000 on both X and Z. Your builds, claims and towns here are never wiped.

Spawn#
The centre of the map, from -500 to 500 on X and Z, is spawn. It is protected: you cannot build, take damage or lose hunger there. See Spawn, PvP World and AFK Area.
Finding a place to build#
New players should use /rtp (or /rtpmenu and click Overworld). It drops you at a random safe spot on the surface, more than 32 blocks from any sector line or the world edge and at least 50 blocks from other players. Random teleport covers X and Z from -10,000 to 20,000, so the far edges of the map are best reached by walking or by /tpa <player>. Check that the spot is unclaimed before you build. See Homes and Teleports.
Then:
- Claim the chunk you want. See Claiming Land.
- Set a home with
/sethome <name>. - Build, and claim every chunk your base touches.
Land that is not claimed is unprotected, so claim before you build anything valuable.
One world, many servers#
The overworld is split into four large sectors and the spawn sector. You may be moved to another server as you cross a sector line, and building within 32 blocks of a sector line is blocked. See Sectors and the World Edge.
Landmarks and events#
The overworld has three King of the Hill points: Village, Trees and Bridge. See PvP.
