Claim toggles are yes/no switches that apply to a whole claim. They live in the Claim Settings button of the Manage Claim menu, and in Global Settings for all your claims. All four start off, which is the protective setting.
The four toggles#
| Toggle | Default | While off | While on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Explosions | Off | An explosion that starts inside the claim is cancelled, and explosion damage to players, mobs, item frames and paintings in the claim is cancelled | Explosions in the claim can hurt players and mobs and break item frames and paintings. They still break no blocks (see below) |
| Mob Grief | Off | Hostile mobs cannot change blocks in the claim (for example endermen picking up blocks or zombies breaking doors) | Hostile mobs can change blocks |
| Fire Spread | Off | Fire cannot be lit, spread or burn blocks in the claim. This includes fire you light yourself | Fire behaves normally |
| Online Map Claim Anonymization | Off | Your claim is labelled with your name on the online map | The label is replaced with a scrambled name |
Wind charge bursts are only stripped of their effect on protected blocks, so they still push players around in a claim.
How the settings combine#
As with permissions, each toggle uses the claim's own setting first, then your global setting, then the default (off). In a claim's menu each click goes Enabled, Disabled, then Using global setting, which clears the override for that claim. In the global menu a click simply switches the toggle on or off. A claim that overrides a toggle shows "Override set for this claim".
| Indicator in the menu | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Using default | Nothing is set, so the off default applies |
| Using global setting | The claim follows your global value |
| Override set for this claim | The claim has its own value |
| Custom value set (global menu) | You changed the global value |
Good to know#
- Toggles only act inside claims. In unclaimed land, fire and mob griefing are never blocked by claims.
- Explosions never break blocks anywhere in the Survival overworld, Nether and End, claimed or not, because of a world rule. Turning Explosions on only lets explosions hurt players and mobs in the claim. See World Protection Rules.
- Turning a toggle on never lets other players build. The usual permissions still apply. See Claim Permissions.
- Town land has its own toggles menu, opened from the town's claim menu by members with permission. See Town Claims.
