Every player has one role in each claim. The role decides which actions the claim's permissions allow. You raise someone's role by making them a guest, and your town mates are town residents automatically.
Roles#
From the weakest to the strongest:
| Role | Who gets it |
|---|---|
| Everyone | Any player who is not listed below |
| Town Residents | Members of the same town as the claim's owner |
| Guest | Players you added to this claim, plus your global guests |
| Only Me (owner) | The claim owner |
| Nobody | Used in permission settings to mean "turned off for all" |
A permission is set to the lowest role that may use it. A higher role always includes what a lower role may do. For example, if Building is set to Town Residents, then town residents, guests and the owner can build, and everyone else cannot. The defaults are in Claim Permissions.
Add a guest to one claim#
- Stand in the claim.
- Run
/claim trust <player>(alias/claim add <player>). You see "Successfully added <player> as a guest."
You can also open /claim edit, click Manage Claim Guests, and press Invite a player. A prompt titled "Invite a player" asks for the name. Click a head in the list to remove that guest ("Click to remove this player from the claim.").
Guests are stored per claim. Adding a friend to one chunk does not add them to your other chunks.
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "This player is already a guest." | They already have access to this claim |
| "This chunk is not claimed by you." | You are not standing in one of your own claims |
Global guests#
Global guests are guests on every claim you own, now and in the future.
- Run
/claim globaland open Global Guests (or use the button in/claims). - Click Add a global guest. A prompt titled "Add Global Guest" asks for the player name.
- Click a head in the list to remove them ("Click to remove.").
You cannot add yourself, and you cannot add someone who is already a global guest.
Town residents#
When the owner of a claim is in a town, every member of that town is a town resident there. This is automatic: no invitation is needed, and it follows town membership, so players lose it when they leave the town or are kicked.
Under the default settings town residents may build, open containers and use most blocks, but they cannot pick up or drop items or fish in your claim, because those need the Guest role. Change any of this in the permission menus. If you do not want townmates to build in your personal claims, set Building to Only Me or Guest. See Claim Permissions and Town Members and Roles.
Land claimed by the town itself works differently: town membership and the town's own permissions decide access. See Town Claims.
What guests can and cannot do#
| Guests can | Guests cannot |
|---|---|
| Build, break, use blocks and open containers (default permissions) | Change claim permissions, toggles or the name |
| Pick up and drop items, fish | Add or remove other guests |
| Set homes in the claim (default Create Home permission) | Unclaim, transfer or sell the claim |
| Place spawners in the claim, within its cap (guests added to the claim itself) | Trigger raids or start duels (turned off for everyone by default) |
The owner and the guests added to a claim are never teleported out of it by a ban. See Claim Bans.
Remove access#
- One claim: open
/claim edit, then Manage Claim Guests, and click the player. - All claims: open
/claim global, then Global Guests, and click the player. - Keep a specific player out entirely with a ban. See Claim Bans.
